This hotel is centrally located-- everything is within walking distance. By Ward market is a few steps away and the Rideau Centre shopping mall is connected to the hotel so very convenient. We went there during the heat wave and when it was hot and humid outside, we stayed indoors at the Rideau Centre and later in the evening, walked to By Ward market. We didn't get to try any of the hotel's restaurants because there were so many others to choose from nearby. Also, when we arrived, the lady at the front desk informed us that the restaurant was closed until 5pm. We found out it was open but didn't matter since the mall was still open and there were more dining options there.

This properity is still undergoing renovations. This time they are tearing down their parking structure. Due to this the parking is very limited and they have now raised the price for parking to 35 a night.I was very unhappy that a wrist watch I left in my room was not returned.Internet service is also charged for.The only positive comment I have is that the view from the rooms is stunning

All night long, I heard a knocking noise coming from above my room. It sounded like the noise was caused by something mechanical (there was somewhat of a pattern to the noise).

The Westin Ottawa Hotel has a great location, and I enjoyed most of all that I was able to go the shopping mall without going outside the hotel. The staff was very nice and always willing to help.

Cons:This hotel is currently undergoing rennovations as of 11/9/07 and there is loads of equipment outside of the front. The room service is MILES TOO EXPENSIVE for what you are getting. The food IS NOT impressive at all what the money you are putting out. Save your dosh and go to the Elephant and Castle! Minibar contains a lot of uninteresting drinks and food and again is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. NO WIFI HERE! This hotel has network cables still. 12.95 a day for internet access. Pros:Elevator is SUPER FAST! Staff is GREAT! VERY PROFESSIONAL! Bed is great! Shower is great! Clean hotel. Right in the center of the action and 2 blocks away from Parliment. Right across the street from the canal. Hotel is connected to this ace mall and there is a WELL ACE food court on the 1st floor.

The Westin Ottawa was very confortable. The beds were great, spacious and clean. Much like the room itself. They charged a premium for everything which is to be expected (e.g. for in hotel internet access and food). However, it was very conveniently located in downtown Ottawa. You can get everything you want at a reasonable price if you don't mind walking. There's not much walking to do in fact. Everything is very close by. The Rideau Centre mall can be accessed from the third floor of the hotel. There's a 24 hour grocery store a few blocks from the hotel. Restaurants of all varities are all within walking distance. Also, the highways are very close by. Parking is also right next to the hotel. It's slightly dingy as it's not operated by the hotel. However, reasonably priced which was a great relief. All in all, a great experience in a comfortable, clean hotel with very good and friendly customer service.

We liked the hotel very much, the location is perfect. The room that we had was a good room but needs remodeling, we would go back there again.

The hotel is a couple of blocks from Parliament and near the canal. The Rideau Centre (mall) is connected to the hotel via a covered walkway. The Byward Market area is a few blocks away -- great for dining and shopping. We ate at The Keg -- best steaks in Ottawa. The Concierge was very helpful, especially since we were waiting for two lost bags from the airport. We only had a couple of complaints: 1) the bathtub had a slow drain, and 2) the carpet had some stains. The beds were comfortable and clean. The room was fresh with no odd smells or dust in the corners. Overall, a good choice if you need a central location. Our room was booked with Total Trip, so we got a great deal, saving about * per night.

From the moment I stepped from the car I was taken care of by the Westin Ottawa staff. My entry into to lobby was facilitated by the doorman who expressed gratitude (not a sense of entitlement) when I gave him a tip. Checkin was smooth and all my preferences for the room were fulfilled. I forgot to request not feathers (because I am allergic) but the housekeeping staff instantly removed everything that had feather stuffing (pillows and duvets) from my room and supplied me with excellent substitutes. We requested internet access - and not only received the access, but were able to use both our laptops at the same time having only paid for one. The (reasonable) charge was per room, and the telecommunications staff came to our room to set up a router so we could both be online at the same time. [By the way - for a very nominal extra amount, you are able to place a telephone call to anywhere in the US or Canada]. Anything we asked for was supplied - quickly and with cheer. The food in the hotel is excellent - and when the waiter delivered our breakfast to the room, he told me that the tip in included something that is often true with room service but...have YOU ever experienced a waiter making it clear that you are not obligated to tip. The hotel restaurant has great food - my only complaint there is that the napkins are too harsh! By the way --- this was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! Our checkout was as easy as our check in - we would definitely go there again.

This hotel has a great location and the views of Parliament hill are excellent ( cost extra ). Rooms are nice and the beds are very comfy. Bathrooms are small and dirty. Mini bars are convenient but terribly overpriced. Valet parking is nice but expensive. High speed internet is available in every room but that cost extra as well. If you forget to pack your toiletries a pack is ready in the washroom for a low low price that will be added to your bill( not that low ). The good people at Westin also thought that you should know that you can buy your robe, this is why there are 5-6 advertisements in your room telling you so. Your are already paying for premium service why does everything cost extra? ENOUGH NICKLE & DIMEING ALREADY !!!!

Stayed at the Westin. Employer booked room online. Confirmed pre-payment on checkin & checkout. Credit card still charged. Took 8 months to solve chargeback. Would not admit to screwing up. Awful treatment received.

Room is clean and comfort. Everything you need is within a walking distance. Shopping mall that has a movie theater and a foot court is connected through the door, so even in a rainy day you can enjoy the stay. Parking charge is extremely high which you need to be aware of.

Great weekend get away. The bar has a majestic view of the city facing up to Parliament at night. Friendly service through out the hotel. The best part was our view from the 20th floor looking out over the city!

Placed in the centre of Ottawa and positioned for an excellent view, you have access to the hotel's fitness centre, an enclosed shopping centre, and easy access to nearby museums. The staff is very professional and responds quickly to your needs. Parking is limited to Valet and a nearby lot, so based on your needs keep that in mind. Overall a great way to visit the Capital of Canada.

Overall it was an excellent location and very good hotel. I had a great time! I would stay here again. Of note, I cannot call it an excellent hotel because the bathroom could have been a little cleaner for a four star hotel (some mold and mildew in the bathroom).
