Transportation: From the airport, visitors can go by water or by land across the lagoon to Venice. By water, the fastest and most expensive way is by water taxi. Less expensive and slower is a boat that stops at other islands in the lagoon and ends up docking adjacent to St Mark's Square 900 metres from the hotel. By land, there are taxis and buses that go from the airport to Piazzale Roma, the historic centre's land-transportation terminus near the Venice-St. Lucia train station. From Piazzale Roma (and from the train station on the opposite side of Grand Canal), public water buses (vaporetti) go to various stops around the city along the Grand Canal, other major waterways, and the lagoon across the street from the hotel.
