We should not tell you how wonderful Hotel Laguna on the Lido near Venice is. We stayed at 4 different hotels during our stay in Italy and this BY FAR IS THE BEST. The room, although small was very clean, highly appointed and comfortable. It was located a short 10 minute water taxi ride away from the heart of Venice. The commute is easy and very enjoyable. The breakfast was much more than the standard Italian breakfast of cornflakes and croissant. It was a FEAST and included fresh fruits, muselei, proscuitto/salami, juices, eggs, and other wonderful treats. Yes, it also had the hot croissants and other breads. The restaurant although expensive by American standards was beautiful and romantic overlooking the bay leading to Venice. All of the 3 desk clerks we encountered were very helpful and spoke excellent English. Our room was overlooking the land vs the water and had limited views (it is what we paid for and were happy with the choice) and had a little noise in the morning from the busses outside the hotel. It was well insulated and really did not cause us a problem. We are already planning our next trip to Venice which is the most incredible city on earth and will definitely stay here again. PS, it is about 200 euros a night cheaper than comparable hotels inside Venice.

View of venice from breakfast room and gardens is outstanding. Location on Lido adjacent to water taxi station with frequent boats is ideal - better than being in a cramped hotel in Venice.

Great hotel with very nice staff and bombastic look over to Marcusplace. Very good isolated, we did not hear a single noise. And delicious breakfast! Also beautiful to sit in the evening outside and watch the sun go down over Venice.

This was our first stay at the Villa Laguna, which is under new management and has very friendly staff. We stayed on the lagoon side which had a fantastic view but the rooms on the opposite side could be noisy. Some other reviews that we had seen mentioned that the coffee in the morning is terrible. However, I have tasted far worse coffee elsewhere in the world and, if this is the only thing that people can find wrong, I would not worry. Although the rooms are very nice, spacious, and (on the lagoon side) have wonderful views, the "fixtures and fittings" were a bit on the shabby side. However, the hotel was closing the day after we left (3 Nov 07) for a complete refurbishment and so, I am sure that this will no longer apply. In spite of this, even before any refurbishment, we would definitely have considered staying at the Villa Laguna again.

Beautiful villa with a great water view. Unfortunately it was in the process of remodel when we were there so we could only have breakfast in the restaurant, it did not say that on the web. Renovations to be completed in Feb now, the web said August. I'm sure when it's completed it will be even more lovely. The water view from the restaurant was beautiful in the morning, it's a shame we couldn't eat there any other time due to renovations. Access to the water taxi's is very convenient just a short walk. Also the town was fun to explore durning the day, with restaurants for locals close by. Defintely eat there. Otherwise everything but eateries are closed by 8pm. The front desk staff were bilinqual and gave good tips to getting around. Our room was lovely with a living room area and a kitchenette which was not stocked to use though. The bedroom was small but lovely, but with a sharp angled ceiling and window in it which made it hard ro get in and out of bed on one side. Had to be careful not to bump your head. There was a step from the hall into the bedroom you had to be aware of if you got up at night to go to the bathroom that you didn't hit your foot going up or fall down the step in the dark coming back from the bathroom. Should have a night light on the floor area there to see the step. I would recommend this villa, but a different room for the stated reasons.

Site and rooms were very nice. The view from the room and breakfast room is overwhelming. The staff (with exception of one person) was very friendly, the welcoming warm in comparison with other hotels of the same class (I visite Venice regularly every other year.) The breakfast is poor. The choice between so called caffe americano (undrinkable for a Continental European coffee drinker) and espresso doppio (too strong for breakfast even for a true coffee addict) is ridiculous. We stayed in a "suite" at the top. Birds (doves and some kind of starlings) nested in the roof and made a hell of a row in the morning. We laughed about it, but it will ruin the roof, and when we departed I tried to tell the guy at the reception about it (in Italian), but he just ignored me, as if I hadn't spoken at all.(This was the one arrogant type, everyone else was just sweet.) Another downer is the allnight vaporetto traffic at the nearby station which can be rather disturbing if you haven't a very sound sleep. We really loved the room, the sight and the friendly atmosphere, but we won't stay there again on account of the breakfast and vaporetto traffic. It's too expensive to take up with that.

Villa Laguna was absolutely lovely - I had a 1 bedroom suite with a kitchenette, a huge bathroom with a window, and a lovely living room. It was steps from the boat stop and Venice is 15 minutes away.

Breakfast area and view are fantastic. Breakfast is continental style - don't expect eggs, cheese, cold cuts, etc. Hot Chocolate from the kitchen cappuccino machine is excellent. Bedroom in the ground-floor suite is cramped. Living room fan is too noisy. Shower pressure is too low, drain is slow and bathroom repairs have not been painted over (no attempt to cover white spackling). Carpet is old and worn but scheduled for Nov 2007 replacement. Friendly staff.

arrived late at night to a very warm welcome. Went to our room and found it a lot bigger than expected. Small kitchen area which you could not use but would have been nice to have drink making facilities. Views from room fantastic looking out over lagoon and Venice. Very close to boat service to venice and made full use of travel pass. 25€ each for 3 days unlimited travel. Breakfast was good and dining room lovely. As it was winter the outside dining area was packed up but imagine in summer it would be lovely. We really enjoyed our week at Villa Laguna and would love to go back some day. Venice unfortunately very expensive, often 5€ for glass of coke and lots of microwave heated pasta for tourists. You need to hunt out non- cafe's for good food. jackie and niall fitzgerald

This hotel is an EXCELLENT address. All prestations are excellent almost if your room has a view to Venise. The rooms which are on the road are noisy.

the hotel is situated in a special, unique place just in front of the lagoon .Rooms looking the lagoon are absolutely super and also rooms' forniture are really nice. Breakfast service is very poor not only for the quality of the food but also for the service itself. The position of this hotel, just near the terminal of boats to Venice downtown, makes this hotel a very interesting alternative of hotels downtown.Very romantic and panoramic hotel!!!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Villa Laguna. It is really close to the vaporetto stop in Lido. The front desk staff was very kind and more than helpful. The room itself had a bit of an old-building smell, but it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very nice. The hotel lacked internet - had to look for internet cafes in venice/lido, although they might have had wireless connection available. We paid an extra 20 euro to upgrade to a room with a view. It was a great view, but it was loud due to motor boats passing right by our room at all hours of the night. Would return in the future.

Superb hotel, in an excellent position. Only criticism is that the music played in the restaurant was irritating especially at breakfast time
