This place is beautiful. Close to both the beaches of Mazzaro and the shuttle bus to Taormina, this hotel is well situated. The staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming. The rooms were beautiful and quiet, with outdoor areas that were private. We would definitley stay here again.

It was not easy to sleep in the house because you could nearly understand each spoken word in the other rooms. The room service was excellent whereas the service in the dining room was terrible. The young lady that should serve in the room was very unpolite because she had no eye for her guests.

we had a nice holiday at villa Caterina despite the owner being about the most dificult woman I have ever met,The staff were helpful and really tried very hard to make up for the attidute of their boss.she issisted that we pay our bill in cash has her credit card machine was broken, this was most incovenient has we had planned to pay by Visa after we paid her we saw some American Guests checking out Who did not have the cash on them, she then managed to find a PDQ machine and they paid by card, We soon realised that the only reason for paying in cash was to save on bank charges( this was not customer service as I know it)She also refused to telephone for a taxi on our last day because the number was a mobile also she watered down the cofee on the one day she served breakfast. She is a lucky lady has all her staff are excelent and we enjoyed our stay despite her silly behaviour.

This was a charming small hotel in a very attractive area, and more convenient for visiting the local sights than staying in Taormina city centre. It was easy to find the place from the directions provided.

Facilities ---------- The garden is very nice. Brochures however speak about possibility to buy drinks and an evening meal. This however is not possible. Close by is the main road and good restaurants. Very little noise from the main road - also at night. Employees --------- We were satisfied by the receptionist, but not the management. See under "Generally" below. Beach ----- The beach below the hotel is only a "few meters". The rest of the beach is private and the few meters are also operated by turist boats. We only stayed a few hours here. Luckily we are "young" and could easily move to the other beach by "Isola Bella", which has a much higher standard. Olderly people however who do not walk well and have taken the Villa because of the beach will be very disapointed. Breakfast --------- Breakfast is the same every day (we stayed 5 days). The baguettes and Cappucino (only one cup is offered) are OK, but the cheese and ham are not eatable. The same cake (got smaller every day) was at the table every morning. The fruits were poor too. This standard is just "too bad". Breakfast at early leave ------------------------ We had to leave early and asked for an early breakfast or some compensation (for no breakfast). This was turned down and we only got a few fruits and "old" baguettes in a bag. Cannot dry bathing suits etc. ----------------------------- When you come from the sea you need to wash your trunks etc. It was not allowed to rinse or hang just a few trunks to dry up. This is absolutly necessary in a "villa by the beach". Not welcome in the afternoon ---------------------------- We went to the beach early in the morning and came to the villa in the afternoon. As this was "siesta" time the management looked very unhappy when we sat down to have a drink or coffee (which we ourselves brought). Even though we made very little noise. Generally --------- We expect that when we go on holida

We stayed in seven hotels during this trip and this was the worst. The bathroom had a terrible smell (sewer gas)and the shower leaked all over the tile floor. The breakfast was OK, but when we decided to sleep in and skip the second day, we were called on the phone and questioned why we had not showed up. We decided to leave early on departure day and tried to pay our bill the day before, but no one was available (spoke English) to do this transaction. We left without paying (they did have our credit card in the booking system, and we have been billed). A very frustrating place to stay!

Beautiful location by the sea, with easy access to Taormina (5 minutes, including cable ride up mountainside.) On the same road as train station ~ better written directions would be helpful. (Best to take the bus from the station ~ it is only 2k, but on major roadway with nowhere to walk except on the road.)

The place was kept very well. The location was very nice. The rooms are very small and share one hot water supply with another room causing one room to be without hot water whenever the other room took a shower. Breakfast was great and served in a lovely setting.

The hotel is well situated near the funicular and close to the sea. The rooms are small but air conditioned although the owner comes into the rooms and turns it off if you leave it on! Breakfast is Ok, served by the owner who makes sure you only take your share! Not too good if you are a heavy eater! The owner is Sicilian but does not speak English, which is fine but it did cause quite a few misunderstandings! You do feel at times that you are being watched at all times and would not suit families or young people! her credit card machine did not work which meant we had to pay in cash and getting a receipt was rather laborious!.Nice place but be prepared to put with the owner!

I would have to rate this place as only mediocure. If we ever headed back to Taormina, I think we'd look for somewhere else to stay. Certainly the place is clean, and the air conditioning works well, which is a godsend. But service is pretty minimal. They did not replace the soap and shampoo, the bathroom sink was clogged, the remote control didn't work and the service desk was often unstaffed. The woman who runs the place is quite friendly, but not exactly a fount of information about the town. She gave us the wrong times both for the last funicular back from Taormina and (by two hours) for the greek theater.

On our departure the proprietor tried to get us to pay cash by telling us her visa macnine was not working. We had struck this on several occassions, and whne confronted and told we had no cash she discovered that the machine was working after all. She was most surley with us and not at all pleasant at having to take visa card.
