The Universo e Nord was by far the worst hotel experience I ever had. This was my first trip to Venice. Maybe I just dont know how they do things over here. But the room was too small, ridiculously overpriced. The staff was rude and rarely helpful, and the bed that my fiance and myself shared was just two twin beds pushed together. The gate was locked at midnight, every night, if you needed to get in after midnight they made you wait outside ringing the bell for at least thirty minutes. We never came in before twelve, and that was the shortest amount of we had waited, it was usually longer. Needless to say the hotel stay didn't make the trip any better. But I will say that the location was very good, and Venice was amazing, but when I go back I will definitely not be staying in this hotel.

Very nice and helpful staff, good breakfast buffet, and great location (near the train station and a water taxi stand). We were pleased with our room which had a balcony and view of the canal.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. My financee took me to Venice for my my bday and romance. They gave us a room the size of a closet..LITERALLY! The bed was a size of a bunk bed and 2 people were expected to sleep in it! When we complained, the front desk wasnt willing to to give us a room with a bigger bed BUT was going to give us seperate rooms on different floors. The room was filthy! The shower literally flooded the the bathroom floor, which became very slippery. They completely lock the entrance doors at night..so if you go out, you have to wake up the person on duty to open the door. The fire doors stay locked 24hrs. The same front desk person, works the brkfst, desk, answers phones and all other duties. No wonder he is so rude and grouchy. This place is a total waste of money and rip off!I would NEVER stay here again!!!

The room was cleaner than i expected although the blankets on the bed were stained. Bed linen was clean though. I had a quite spacious twin room and a big bathroom but the shower became more like a bath after a few minutes due to the water pooling. All this was fine but the only annoying thing was the noise from the water flushing through pipes in the wall. This was quite loud so is a problem if you sleep lightly and others flush at night! Breakfast was very ordinary, pay an extra 2-3 euro and get a great a croissant and coffee at the cafe next door. Overall the price was good for what you got in venice

Very good mid priced hotel in fabulous location only 2 minutes from train station. We had a triple room which was small but adequate and very clean. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good by Italian standards. If you don't like street noise at night, ask for a room at the back of hotel; we actually enjoyed listening to the locals enjoying themselves at night.

Very good central location close to the vaporetta stop and the main rail station.Breakfast which is served on the ground floor is a varied cold buffet. One drawback is that all the rooms are on upper floors and there is no lift.

handy to the station, with lots of shops and resturants close by, but this hotel is more two star than three star, also has no lift and is on different levels.

Very friendly and accomodating staff. The hours for breakfast (7-10 a.m.) were convienent and the food was good. Having fresh fruit available would have only made it better. Slept soundly, rooms were quiet. Great location. Close to shopping, restaurants and the train station. We would stay there again.

We will certainly go back to Universo Nord Hotel in Venice. But next time, I will request for a lower floor room and one not facing the street. As it is quite noisy during the late evening until about 1pm. The hotel is clean and very well situated, very near the boat stations. The shower in the room assigned to us has low pressure hence the water do not come out strong and the hot water disappear while one is using it. All in all it is a good hotel and breakfast is substantial.

The rooms with the common balcony facing the river are great for two couples/4 friends. The hotel is really close to the Santa Lucia main train station and to the river(waterbus stop! They have no warm breakfast food.

Todo muy bien, solamente el comedor para el desayuno muy pequeño, lo que hacía que las personas tuvieran que esperar para poder desayunar. En general, además de la magnífica posición -cercana a la estación central de trenes-, una magnífica atención.

Pluses: Easy to find and access, from bus and train stations. Convenient for exploring Venice. Staff quite friendly and helpful. Breakfast good. My room was quiet. Shower a little more spacious than others I've encountered. Fridge handy for cool snacks. Minuses: Room was fairly clean but details overlooked (moldy grout in shower, dusty headboard, dirt (?) smears on bathroom radiator). "View" was of other windows and roof tops just inches away, but the upside of that is that the room was fairly quiet. Notes: Be sure to let the desk know ahead of time if you need to go in or out the front door between midnight and 5am, they'll need someone available to unlock it for you.

I would only stay there is I was guaranteed the rooms overlooking the street. We stayed there twice in those rooms. I overlook some of the deficiencs to stay there. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.

My company used this as a central point for business in Northern Italy. It was great as it was a close walk to the parking garage and we were able to rent a car there at the garage as well. We weren't expecting the Waldorf so we enjoyed the stay and sights of Venice. We needed to launder some shirts and the staff was very helpful in directions.

The location was perfect, as even though it is not right in the center of the best sights it is so close to the train station and this way we didn't have to haul luggage accross the bridges. Easy and beautiful walk to San Marco, Rialto, etc. Everything in the hotel was great
