| If you want a budget experience in Tokyo, but a notch above hostels, then I highly recommend staying at a "business hotel." Hotel Universe is a great one -- close to the Tokyo City Air Terminal (which has bus service to Narita Airport). it is on the south east part of Tokyo, right by Ginza. There's a subway stop right in front of the hotel. The hotel is a great example of Japanese economy -- the rooms are TINY, but efficiently laid out. The bathroom is actually uni-body construction from one piece of plastic. It isn't luxurious, but it really has all you need for a safe, clean place to call home during your stay in Tokyo. I've stayed there twice now and would go back again. |

| Good budget hotel in the business area. Excellent location, metres from two subway lines, direct to Ginza and to Ueno. Close to air terminal (minutes by taxi) and Tokyo station. Hotel website has clear directions on access, and also special rates for single women. I had a single room, small but with all you need, though the bed was on the hard side. I phoned and requested early check in, paying 2000 yens extra. Asked and obtained a no smoking room. I found the staff very helpful and the buffet breakfast cheap and good, especially the japanese food. |

| A good hotel with friendly staff. Very convenient to the Met and a small grocery store next door. The room wasn't big but a reasonable size by Japanese standards. |

| A charmless but reasonably comfortable and well-located hotel. Note that the single rooms are very small. |

| We appreciated the assistance of the hotel staff - in finding information regarding where to go for certain things and sight seeing, as well as learning a little of the Japanese language. We found that nothing was too bothersome for them to help us with. We will surely consider staying here again next time we are in Tokyo! Thanks. |

| The size of a single room is concerningly small and there is no wardrobe in the room. However, this was adequately overcome by the friendly service of the front desk staff, the quality and price of breakfast, and other facilities in the room, such as free high speed internet and the general attitude of all staff.
The location is excellent with its nearness to the Tokyo station and TCAT city air terminal and the Kayabacho subway station.
Would stay there again and would not hesitate to recommend to others who is looking for a clean, compact and convenient business
hotel with a good service attitude in Tokyo (and at a decent price!) |
