Very Good B&B in all aspects. Convenient for Vatican. Away from city centre but metro just under. English speaking host always willing to help. Will return with pleasure anytime.

This place is a health concern. The ceilings and walls are covered in mold and the smell of mold in the bathroom is terrible. When you first get into the little corridor that gives access to the rooms it is like entering a little cave, dark and smelly of old cigarette smoke. The owner appears to give you the keys and after that you are on your own. It is way overpriced for what you get, even for Rome. Finally, I have stayed in hostels and B&B all over the world and this is far the worse I’ve stayed in.

The best stay of our lives , with Rome the People the sites and a hop step and a jump away from a Metro to get us any where in Rome for 1 euro. Not to mention five minutes walk to the Vatican, what more could you ask for. We would stay there again, next time in Rome.

The B&B is perfect both for its location and for its condicion: the B&B is less than 20 m far from the metro station called Ottaviano and about 1 km far form the Vatican walls. The building is old, but the B&B itself has been recently renewed and reorganized and it is perfectly modern. The host is a warm and kind man, helpful and professional and his assistant as well. The room was spacious and clean, the loo was more than acceptable, the bed was comfortable, the closet was of an avarage size. Breakfast was following the continental fashion: there was a great variety of food (tea, coffee, yogurt, fruit, salami, cheese, bread, butter, jams, spreadable chocolate [similar to nutella], cereals [only simple cornflakes]). The time for breakfast was reasonable. My judgement is seriosly positive.

The B&B is located on the south side of Viale Giulio Cesare and east side of Via Ottaviano. It’s on the first floor above the ground. Metro stop Ottaviano just outside the building. Tram stop (line 19), and several bus stops in all directions. Vatican wall about 500 meters away. We stayed in the Octavio room, facing the street just as the Picasso room. The Alain and Vincent rooms face the yard and share a balcony with the breakfast room. (Yes, there are 4 rooms, not 3.) There was a little noise from the street, but the window and blinds shut most of it out, so the traffic never disturbed us. Breakfast room: very cosy, better than in the pictures, see romeby.com/caseromaneii. Breakfast did not include ”home-made pies” as stated, but I asked for fresh fruit when I ordered, and every morning we had delicious apples and melon, along with caffe latte, toast, soft white bread, croissants, muffins, juice, jams and honey. Our room: Air conditioning working perfectly and very clean. Small TV with only 3-4 Italian channels. En-suite bathroom: no key, shower rack or slide rail. Fridge with ice box, sofabed, table with two chairs. Bed firm but soft, 160 cm wide. Room was cleaned and towels and linens changed twice during our week-long stay. No Internet Point as I could see. The only staff we met, was the young man who handed us the keys when we arrived around midnight, and the friendly ladies who served us breakfast. We got a phone number to call if we needed anything. No more service was given, but no more service was required, either. Highlights: St Peter’s basilica: cherubs holding holy water stoups – larger than the average adult! Crypt: I was touched by the pilgrims kneeling in front of John Paul II’s sarcophagus and reciting Our Lords Prayer in front of Saint Peter’s tomb. Bioparco Zoo. Santa Maria della Concezione in Via Veneto: Decorated with the bones of 4000 monks! Ristorante Paolo, just outside the exit of the Vatican museum.

expensive for what it is... a former large appartment converted into a b&b... you can only pay cash (or else, the proce increases), breakfast food was purchased at a discount supermarket next door, the bathroom towels were really thin (one towel for 2 persons). The overall aspect of the appartment is really old fashioned.

This was one of the nicest B&Bs weve stayed in. The owner was very welcoming and helpful. The only issue we had is that every morning around 8 AM we were awoken by loud footsteps and running above us. I am guessing they were small children getting ready for school. That was a small issue, though, because everything else was perfect! I highly recommend staying at Federici!

I was totally disappointed by breakfast!!!! cheap supermarket snacks, very cheap, either brioches or fette biscottate, with only two types of jam. cheap juice, cheap coffee. milk. That's it...quite poor for a B&B!!! The internet the promised was not there, and I really needed to use it...The room was huge, clean, perfect, except that you could hear wateer running from the toilets of all the other rooms...extremely noisy, it woke me up several times during the night. However, great position and very easy to reach with public transport.

My wife and I stayed with Fabio for 8 days. He was a very accomodating host and in fact booked for us a private tour of the Vatican Museum and made reservations for the Villa Borghese Gallery even before we arrived at the B & B. He recommended several very good restaurants in the area, particularly the Bella Napoli that was filled with locals and represented very good value and had excellent food. The B & B is ideally located just steps away from the Ottaviano metro stop which is only about a 1/3rd of a mile from Vatican City. This property is an excellent value in a very expensive city and if you are into B & Bs we imagine you would be hard pressed to find a better one for the money in Rome. We would definitely stay here again.

We found B&B Federici easily and found the proximity to the subway and the Vatican to be excellent. The room was as described and the bathroom was very clean. We had a shared sitting room outside our bedroom and breakfast was one floor down. Since we were leaving early each day, we did not meet other travelers but found Fabio & Massilimo to be very friendly and helpful. We found a great little restaurant just 1 block away for dinner. There are many shops, markets and restaurants nearby. We would definitely stay at Bed & Breakfast Federici again.

The location is good, next to the Ottaviano metro stop though there are unruly characters selling bags in front of the B&B. But I never went home after 8pm. Staff were friendly except for the lady owner. With 70 Euros/night, I felt is expensive for the level of service rendered. I stayed there for 4 nights, room is ok except nobody cleaned the room, made the bed & emptied the garbage. My garbage in a small bin piled up after 2 days & I was told sternly by the lady owner when I asked for another garbage bag. She said my 3/4 garbage bin was not full yet. Bathroom sliding door was mouldy & it stinked after 2 days of shower when it got wet, as bathroom was not cleaned during my stay. Though the ventilator fan was turned on, it did not get rid of the smell totally. One of the heater in the room was leaking water (heater is Mazut). There were problems with shower (on day 3) and heating (on day 4). I had cold shower & heater did not come on. Apparently, they changed something with the heating system but they saw to it when I complained. Breakfast lady was friendly. Breakfast started late at 8am when one needs to go out after 7.30am to queue for tickets to Vatican & other sites. Breakfast could have been better as it was hard croissants with 2 per person. B&B shares the building with other apartments. One night someone left the front door open wide & did not lock it. Some safety concern here.

This is a wonderful location for seeing Rome. We had some initial problems finding it -- the building is multipurpose and the name on the bell is small. The metro stop is just outside the front door and the Vatican is an easy walk. Lots of restaurants in walking distance.Staff was very helpful.

It was hard to find however Senor Federici walked out in the rain to find us and escort us to the B&B. Once we knew where it was, everything was great. The B&B is located at the metro so we could easily go everywhere in the city. The B&B is a very short walk to Vatican City, which enabled us to enjoy the Easter Masses without complications and traffic delays. I will return to this B&B (already made plans to take daughter and family) and have highly recommended this B&B to all of my friends and co-workers. Breakfast was perfect with a charming interesting host.

The B&B "100 metri dal Vaticano" was Excellent! We would definately stay there again. The rooms were clean. We had a fridge. The doors have a quadruple locking mechanism. There's a breakfast nook to have your breakfast. The staff was friendly and even helped us with our bags. There's an elevator. They give you 3 keys. 1) for the downstairs front door, 2) for the door to the B&B, and 3) for your room. There's a cafe right next door if you're wanting drinks and/or a sandwich. There's 2 Metro stops right outside (1 right in front and the other kitty corner from the B&B) Also the bus routes run right down both cross streets. It's extra close to the Vatican, definately walking distance. Bring cash to pay for your room, because there's a 5% credit card usage charge. (They get charged by the bank that percentage to charge your credit card.) The showers were great! We even had a little couch and table with chairs in ours. (The Octavio room). If you request the "Allan" room, it's much bigger and there's even a crib for a baby in it. There's a shared balcony in it, also. My friend who stayed in another room had a shared balcony, also. They even had room de-odorizer spray for the bathroom. They offered luggage storage, which we were so thankful for. Food and shopping is all nearby. We never had a problem finding either. Vito and Dina's, which is one black toward the Vatican and one block to the right has amazing Italian food and they're so welcoming. The A/C/Heating units are great! The remotes work perfectly. The rooms are so quiet. The windows I swear are sound-proof, because we had a room facing the street. If the windows are closed, you don't hear anything from the street. I can't say enough great things about the place we stayed at. The price can't be beat. They even offered us discount cards for our next visit. Just an AMAZING place for the price!!

The location is very convenient. The room is large and almost new. Thanks for Fabio's kindfull advices. I enjoyed my stay in Rome. But there are a few problem. One problem is that the room doesn't have a bath. It wasn't announced on the web page! Second problem is the breakfast. And the breakfast starts from 8:30. I think it is late for sightseeing visitors.
