Major renovations taking place at the moment, which they should have mentioned when we booked. Had to request to change room, as the banging from the renovations was unbelievably loud. Patio/veranda hardly worth the space they take up, barely able to fit 2 people on it. TV had 3 channels. We had to walk over broken tiles covered by tarps to get to the lift (very dangerous). Had to wait for the tradesman to finish working around the lift before we could get in. Lift itself took ages and ages to arrive. Our suitcase, shoes and clothes were covered in dust from where they were sanding back paint. We also had to walk underneath where they were painting the ceiling, with white paint dripping. Reception area was disgusting and dirty, everything is covered in dust / paint. Not a nice experience at all, we ended up checking out early after 1 night. I feel we should have been paid to stay there, not us pay to stay there. We found better accommodation in the centre of the queen street mail, for the same price we paid at this dump ($159 per night)

pros: the room was really nicely presented and tidy. the staff were helpful and friendly. cons: the hotel wasnt as conviently located as i assumed it was and the room service meals definitely dont look like what they do in the photo. overall the hotel was a pleasent stay with only a few minor glitches. i would stay again and recommend it to my friends.

This place makes stalags look like resort spas. The room was filthy, the halls are dank, smelly and barely lit, the tub was dirty. Toiletries were scarce, and of questionable quality. That was just the start of it. for the love of god, dont use their car park, it's impossible to get around it's tiny and poorly designed. The room decor is something you'd find in the run down home of a 90+ year old insane woman from Florida. In other words, chewed up wicker and hideous shades of off-peach stained with nicotine and what I hope were coffee stains on the rank carpet. The hideous lamps barely work and are spray painted gold! the locks on the doors were insufficient, and the air conditioning was noisy, mildewy, and fairly useless. I will say that the reception staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. There are signs up promising a total remodel by 2008, but unless this involves fire and total demoilition, I'll never return to this place. Do yourself a favour and stay on a park bench in the lovely park across the street or just drive to another town.

First impressions of the hotel were not favorable, but this was only because of the construction work. However once inside the foyer things improved. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was excellent. I found the menu a little restrictive and expensive. I would stay again and recommend it to my friends and family. My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is undergoing renovations but there was little or no noise while we were there. The position was great close to the city and within walking distance to two rail stations. Our room was excellent and the restaurant on the 10th floor was gorgeous. Great value. Service at front desk was very courtous and helpful. Lovely area close the cafes and historical buildings.Would stay again.

Very helpful reception staff - ideally located for central Brisbane but on edge of a quiet park. Recently upgraded - new rooms well appointed. Will use again.

Not sure if it is fair to rate this hotel right now as it is going through refurbishment. Our room was one of the new ones and it was lovely. The hotel was difficult to find as the outside looked like a building site and the name sign wasn't big enough to attract attention. Good location close to city centre. Walk back to hotel not for the faint hearted though. Would stay here again.

Our hotel room had bed bugs and I do not recommend staying at this hotel! Despite the service being very polite we were not given the booked room and it took an hour before this was resolved. The food is tasty, although over-priced. The week we stayed, there were noisy renovations in the upper-floors which made the room unusable during the day. The rooms are generous but the facilities have a rather tired presentation.

Hotels restaurant service was very good, expecially Luis (waiter) was very friendly and we want to sent regards to him from two girls from Finland. Hotel room was awful. Pictures on internet didnt show the facts!

Ups: Got an upgraded room on check-in Clean, new and stylish furniture Big flat screen TV Downs: Our room wasn't cleaned because we had the "don't disturb' sign up untill 11 am. Too cold in the reception area Expensive internet in lobby Very expensive parking, 10 dollars a night. Door to pool was locked in the morning and the pool was not tempting Steep walk up the hill of the location

The room had been recently refurbished and was very comfortable, I enjoyed my stay although the carpark is very restrictive and I am sure there are many scratches and dents caused by the numerous pillars.
