********New opening after renovation 01.05.2008!****** The Strandhotel Lissek is situated in an incomparable and quiet atmosphere at the wonderful seafront of Binz. The building was constructed in the Wilhelminian style and is still an architectural treasure, reflecting the old times. Recently it was totally refurbished and nowadays it is combining the charme of former times with modern amenities.

Binz was originally founded in 1318 as a small fishing village at the Baltic Sea. Today it is the biggest sea resort on the island of Rügen. It is situated in one of the most beautiful bays of the island, in the ‘Prorer Wiek’. The bay is surrounded by wide woods and in the west it is enclosed by the lake ‘Schmachter See’.
Binz offers a very mild climate with lots of sun and healthy air. The quiet location, the fine sand on the beach and the weak surge make Binz to one of the most favourite holiday destinations at the Baltic Sea.
The unique architecture of the villas in Binz derives from the Wilhelmenian Age, and the small towers and flowery ornaments are nowadays a synonym for Binz. Most of the gorgeous villas of the past were remodelled into elegant hotels which combine the flair of the past with modern amenities. These sophisticated villas are lining the elegant 3.2 km long boardwalk with the Kurhaus (old spa house), the concert plaza with its pavillion and the wooden footbridge.

The town of Binz is situated in the east of the island Rügen, in the magnificent bay of Prora (Proraer Bucht).
You can reach the island from Berlin (about 4 hours), by the motorway A19 and from Hamburg (about 3.5 hours) by the motorway A20.

From Stralsund take the 'Rügendamm' or the ferry 'Stahlbrode-Glewitz'.
From many towns in Germany you can also take a car-train (to Sassnitz) or the night train, which goes directly to Binz.
