My husband and I have stayed here since 2004 and we have always had a great time.Though any holiday is what you make of it! Plenty to do, entertainment and karaoke evenings are great especially the beach party! Spa staff are the best so friendly.(spa is amazing) The food is average. staff are friendly. Gym could do with a bit of an update but still well equip for what you need to do! overall 4/5

I have been visited this property 7 times in the past 16 years. This visit security staff allowed drug dealers to bother guests, meanwhile harassing harmless disabled person walking down beach. Perhaps security was paid off by the dealers. Hot tubs were too hot for anyone to use. After complaining, were too cold for a day, then back to too hot to use. My mother and other guests had plumbing problems. I think they are trying to offer more than they can adequately maintain. Took us 3 days to get beach towels, and we were lucky to do so. Entertainment was so-so, a definite decrease in quality from the old Trelawny Beach Hotel.

The rooms at the Starfish Trelawny close really hard and every time someone goes in or out it's really loud. I take vacation to sleep in and be able to take naps. We were not able to do that because the doors were slamming shut all the time. In addition, alarm clocks were going off in rooms where no one was staying and we could hear them in our room.

This was my first time in Jamaica and first time at a Starfish resort. I had an excellent experience and am actually in the process of booking another visit to Starfish in Jamaica. The hotel is great! no time to be bored. The staff was friendly and outgoing. I was shocked that I had such a great time. The pools are awesome and the beach on the resort is even better. Didn't want to come home!!!

Starfish Trelawny is a very family friendly resort. The room was large and very comfortable. We had a nice view off the balcony of the whole resort. It has all sorts of activities for both adults and children. Hockey, Mini Golf, Basketball Court, Rock Climbing, 2 water slides, 3 pools (2 adult, 1 kid). There are several choices of places to dine. It was a wonderful experience, and the people where all very friendly. I would definetly recommend this place to anyone.

What a great vacation we had at the Starfish Trelawny Beach Resort. It was a tremendous value in a very nice setting. The beach at the resort was the most beautiful beach I have ever been on. The dining options were great. Their restaurant Casablanca was absolutely delicious. One day we went to Dunn's River Falls and climbed the falls. What fun. I would recommend this Resort and plan on returning again next year.

Overall this was a fantastic trip. I think the bad reviewers expected a 5 star trip for a 3 star price. The rooms are a bit spartan but are decent and comfortable. The oceanview from our room was amazing. With all of the amenities at the hotel, you're not going to be spending much time in the room. We usually ate breakfast in the buffet, lunch at the grill by the pool and dinner in one of the restaurants. I really liked Guiseppe's. The salmon was awesome but my husband did not care for his steak. I guess don't eat steak on an island that doesn't have cows! The Japanese place was ok. I expected better sushi but it was very standard. We spent most of our time in the pools and ocean during the day. I also loved the trapeze. In the evenings, there was always plenty of entertainmet on the main stage and in the piano bar. We did not go outside of the resort on daytrips but were told by other guests that Dunn's Creek and the glimmering lake were worth it but to avoid any shopping trips (tons of beggars that make it very uncomfortable) and the dolphin swim ($160 for about 1 minute swim). Overall, we would go back to this resort. It was a great place to just relax for a couple days.

Our stay in the Starfish Trelawny beach Resort was a dream come true. Nice size closet, space to hang wet clothes, comfortable furniture, plenty of towels, stocked refrigerator with Jamaica colas, water, pepsi, and diet pepsi, and could be restocked for a reasonable charge. Food was available 16 hours a day and there was plenty of it. Always something for everyone. Drinks were readily available. Tropical Flowers, plants, and palm trees everywhere make it breath takingly beautiful. You could always find something to do or just spend the day napping in a hammock. It is a family resort and if you have kids, there seemed to be lots for them to do, and as a couple looking for quiet and romance, This resort provided it all. As of the moment we stepped off of the shuttle and into the lobby, we were treated like royalty. They have a very large staff that is very friendly and eager to make your stay the best. They made our dreams come true. I truely have nothing negative to say about our visit to Jamaica's Starfish Trelawny. My only complaint is that I had to go home. I reccommend this resort very highly!!

Starfish Trelawny is a great family friendly resort but I went with just my older sister and we had a blast. There is always something to do and Montego Bay is only 20-30mins away depending on traffic. Ochios Rios is only 35-45mins away so if you're young and sexy and feel flirtatious you can always get a taxi ( there is always one available) and experience the nightlife. If you just want to stay on the resort, there is a nightclub and a local bar across the street. There is also a spa and plenty of water activities available. I would definitely stay at Starfish again. One problem, sugar ants.

Star Fish Trelawny, while not the best, is just about right for friends and family. The disco needs to be cleaned up properly and should be more appealing for guests. Also, I saw dead roaches on the floor of the disco/club room. Otherwise, the rooms were clean and the customer service and food good. My first visit was better because there were more meaningful activities for me to do.

This hotel was great, and we will definitely go back there. The staff were so friendly, and because there is no tipping, they weren't friendly just to obtain your money. It was not commercial, with people trying to sell you things at every turn, unlike a lot of other places. The room was very nice, except we had some problems with the cable and the hot water. The place needed a little maintenance. Switching rooms was no problem, getting into our room early when we checked in was no problem. I even lost my wallet (my fault) and security walked the entire resort with me and searched every trash can (got the wallet back the next day). There is live music every night, and tons of things for kids to do day and night. The food was excellent. There were a lot of nonfamilies there, too, which was sort of surprising, but nice. Can't say enough good things about this place.

This is resort is definitely a family resort. My room was very humid. Our towels never got dry. I definitely not recommend this resorty at all. My lesson for this trip-Never ever stay at lower than 4 star hotels. Spend a little bit of more money and be happy.

Check-in was very slow-staff was not very accomodating. We requested a crib twice prior to our arrival and we never got one. The room #503 was ok...not too small and had a king size bed + a twin. For $50.00 more a night...the cottages looked really nice and were near the pool. Food quality and selectionwas NOT good at all at the buffets. The other options with surcharges were just ok as well. We didn't expect much since it was more inexpensive than other hotels, but they could been MUCH better. The distance from the airport was allot further than we realized (45 minutes) They also picked us up for departures at 12:30PM for a 3:45PM flight. We felt that it was a waste of time. There was no flexability. If we were to go back we would spend more $ and stay somewhere different.

I chose this hotel because it was the closest to the newly built Trelawny stadium that hosted the warm up matches for the World Cup of Cricket in March,2007. The room was spartan but very clean with a great view of the ocean from the 6th floor. The pools and grounds are well maintained. This is a family oriented resort with lots of small children and plenty of activities to keep them happy. The beach was very nice, plenty of chaises and shade. There was even a lifeguard on duty- a first I've ever seen in the Caribbean. Because I traveled alone I ate at the buffet during my stay and the food was just ok. There were some good fish dishes and the fresh fruit was excellent but it was most like cafeteria food. I have heard the specialty restaurants were much better, but carry a surcharge. The staff was friendly and helpfull. You are very isolated and need a cab to go anywhere, they are available at the front of the resort. My children are older teens now, but if they were younger I think the Starfish would be a good choice for a family vacation.

If you want to vacation on a compound nowhere near any historical areas, shopping, or off compound dinning. If you want to be one of the masses who walk around in Bermuda shorts waiting for the next calling at the all-you-can-eat buffet. If you want to be around lots of kids. Then this is the best Compound Vacation this side of Iraq. Short of that. Pass on it.

water was off in the resort one whole day due to leaks. there was no variety of food and it was not very good. when the water was turned off the air conditioning did not work. no place in the whole resort to use the toilet because the water was shut off. did not like to be asked for tips at the lobby bar.

The weather this week would not cooperate, it rained for 6 days straight. The staff was great they did everything they could to keep kids busy and and the adults entertained. The entertainment and circus staff especially did a great job. We couldn't leave the resort because it was raining and flooding all over the island but nonetheless they tried very hard to entertain everyone. If it was raining (and througout the week there were a few hours here and there) the trapeze, rock climbing wall and slides were great for the kids. The hotel was very clean. The buffet food wasn't that great but for a small fee you could eat at a restaurant that would cook anything you wanted. Overall if you have kids I reccommend this hotel, for the money it is worth it.
