Description:Rock Glen is a charming country hotel, built in 1815, nestling between Connemara’s Twelve Pin mountains and Ardbear Bay. The landscapes and Atlantic seascapes are magnificent. Owners John and Evangeline Roche have lovingly preserved and expanded the property, creating a delightful hotel in the country house tradition. Location. The boutique Rock Glen Country House Hotel is located on Ardbear Bay, 1.5 kilometres from Clifden, Ireland. Omey Island is 12 kilometres away, the village of Letterfrack is 20 kilometres away, and Galway is at a 75 kilometre distance.
Hotel Features. Offering views of the Twelve Bens Mountains and surrounded by 50 acres of meadowland, the Rock Glen Country House Hotel is housed in a renovated hunting lodge dating from the 18th century. The hotel opens to interiors decorated in the style of a traditional country house and includes a lounge area with an open fire and piano bar. Further amenities include complimentary onsite parking and room service.

Rock Glen Country House Restaurant has an open fire and colourful murals, and serves international dishes with an emphasis on freshly caught seafood.

The hotel offers snooker and lawn tennis, and houses a putting green and croquet lawn. Clay pigeon shooting can be organised on request.

Getting there. The easiest way to get from the airport to the hotel is by hire car or taxi, the latter costing approximately 100 EUR.

Transportation:
From Watermans Lodge go back into Limerick City and then take the N18 to Ennis, Gort and Galway City. From Galway City take the ring road around the city and onto the N59 to Oughterard, Maam Cross and Clifden. Once in Clifden go around the one way system and take the road to Ballyconneely. Approx 1 mile along this road there is a right turn signposted for the Rock Glen Manor. The hotel is at the top of this road.

ROCK Glen Hotel is a small Family run 4 star Manor House Hotel and is situated on the edge of Ardbear bay 1km south of Clifden. It has unrivalled views of the Twelve Ben mountains and is the ideal base from which to discover and experience all Connemara has to offer. Connemara championship links course (27 holes) is only fifteen minutes from the Rock GlenHotel whilst Errislannan Pony trekking is only five minutes away where one can trek along the golden sandy beaches. Organised Walking tours and fishing trips are available locally and can be easily booked through the hotel. Kylemore Abbey ,Innis Boffin,killary boat tours are some of the other attractions of interest in the north of Connemara whilst in the south the beautiful fishing village of Roundstone can be found, surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches in Connemara such as Dogs bay and Gurteen bay.

Follow the N59 from Galway city to Clifden and taking the one way system around to the left of the town instead of turning right to go back up the town carry on straight on the ballyconeely road r341 for about 1.5km taking the first turn to the right (Hotel well sign posted)

Fantastic location with superb coastal views.Excellent food.Service a bit stuffy.Room disappointing, ie no tea making facility, paint peeling off bathroom wall, had to request heating turned on.Very expensive for what we got.
