The RIU paradise island was a great experience. We had great food the whole time, the staff was very friendly and the beach was great. The rooms need an upgrade but we never spend much time in the room therefore this was not really an issue. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a getaway in the Bahamas in an all-inclusive formula!!

The Riu is not the prettiest hotel you would expect to see starting from the outside which looks like a plain cream rectangular building with windows. The drive-in entrance is very plain and faces the back of other buildings. The lobby is very nice as are the dining areas but the rooms are old and dated. We were told we were given an upgrade from our superior ocean view but our ocean view was blocked by large vents on the roof of the lower level. We saw a thin strip of the horizon of the ocean. We only got small packages of shampoo, no small bottles, no conditioner or lotion. The food is buffet style with additional dining options for dinner which was great. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner but it seemed that lunch was always running out before we could eat. Overall, the food was pretty good. The pool was ok but overcrowded. The poolside furniture needs some updating. The best part was the location. The beach was right out back and a 15 minute walk to the end of the beach would take you to a shallow, calm, blue beach area where we snorkeled for free. This was the best part for us! If you don't care too much about the room aesthetics, then I would recommend the Riu.

The RIU was the best hotel that i have ever stayed in. i never experienced a all inclusive before and have decided that is the way to go from now on. the only thing i would request on my next visit is a better view seeing i was on the side of the building i would like a real ocean view. all the people that worked there made you feel like you were special and were always looking for some way to serve you and make you have a very enjoyable time. i recommend this kind of vacation for everyone at least once.

Although you must bus your bags to the room, RIU is welcoming as soon as you check in. The atmosphere is perfect. Not over the top and above average. The staff is unbelivably corteous and efficient. Food is beyond what is expected, from themed buffet meals to private formal dinners. The beach is at your footsteps and the sun is always there! Sea water is from blue to teal green. We did as to return for a second time on a long weekend.

Great hotel for relaxation, great beach, great staff, very friendly people. Though the hotel is very close to Atlantis they need more activities for guests. They have an awesome location.

The RIU Paradise Island was okay. Nothing to WOW about. It was nice being next to the Atlantis, the beach was beautiful, everything else was just okay or below what I would have expected. I have stayed at other RIU's and the service and hotels in general have been very different. All other RIU's were every clean and the service was exceptional.

The RIU hotel was very beautful! The staff was very friendly, the food was great, the drinks was great! everything about the hotel was great.Me and my boyfriend stayed in the ocean view room which was larger than we expected! The best part was the view from our terrace!!!!! FABULOUS!!! Its a great place for couples as well as families. To me it wasnt that expensive especially because everything was included! I would definitely recommend this hotel! It was so nice we are planning to go again!!

This was our first time visit to the Bahamas--Our stay at the RIU was a very pleasant and enjoyable one. The service was excellent and all the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We could not ask for anything more. I would would rate this place a 5 star... I would also highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Bahamas at paradise island.

The Riu on Paradise Islands is in need of a major renovation. Our suite was heavily worn. The bathroom tiles were cracked and dirty. The king bed did not have a pillow top mattress. The in-room bar was stocked with the lowest quality liquor. The main lobby was ok; accept the roof developed a leak and a huge piece of plaster fell on the floor. The buffet was pretty good for an all inclusive. The staff was friendly. The sushi restaurant was horrible. We didn't try the other restaurants, opting to go out for dinner. The beach and water was beautiful. Considering the money we spent, I was hoping for a 4 star experience. I would give it 1.5 star.

The staff at the Riu hotel were all great! their service was also good. The pool area was close to the beach. I liked the facted that it was all In-clusive, had drinks all day, if u wanted too! The only thing was that it needs a to be more up-dated. The rooms were just alright.I did like the terrace facing the ocean and the pool area. All in all I would recommend it. I had a great time there...

It was a wonderful experience, more so because the staff was kind and helpful - rather than the hotel being in fantastic shape. Not that it was bad (how can anyting be displeasing when surrounded by Paradise), but the Hotel in itself was 'old'. Seems tired, and in need of a revamp.

Gorgeous beach, Great food, Good drinks and Friendly Staff! The best part of the hotel was probably its white sand and crystal clear beach. Hotel could use a renovation but food was tasty, drinks were good (especially pina coladas and caprinhas) and the staff was friendly. Nightly entertainment was quite funny and the atlantis is convieniently located next door for casino, clubbing and shark watching! The crowd was a good mix of young couples, fun couples and older families with young adult children... and was relatively kid free! Overall, my boyfriend and I had an amazing vacation! I think we both gained about 5lbs from all the delicious food and drink though ;)

The hotel was clean, the staff friendly but it could really use some renovations. I don't think the air conditoning was on in the hallways, the bathroom looked old, the toilet was running the entire time I was there(I told them about it the night I got there, I ended up turning the water off to it) My room was located poolside so some nights it was noisy. The rack on the deck was coming out of the wall. The beach is beautiful but you have to pay for an umbrella and you have people walking up and down the beach selling things. I went during a busy time of the year so the pool and beach were crowded during the middle of the day so I went out early in the morning and later in the afternoon. The food is not bad, lots of variety. I feel that I got what I paid for.

Its not the Atlantis but it is a way better value and you can use all the Atlantis activities any way. The pool was a bit cloudy but I'm more of a beach person anyway. The beach is awesome by the way. I would have to say this is the place to stay is you go.

This was my first stay at the RIU Paradise Island. I was expecting much more out of this hotel because I am a frequent traveler and have stayed at seveeral RIU's and have heard nothing but good things about their other hotels. The food was terrible and there weren't many options. Having to wait in a rediculous line between the hours of 5-6 each night to reserve dining for the next night is not my idea of a vacation. The hotel staff was very nice and hospitable but they seemed to either not care or not be phased by the complaints. When we finally did switch rooms, the toilet ran constantly, there was ZERO water pressure( and I'm also talking about non-peak showering times), our mini-fridge wasn't working, and our door refused to lock on and off for the whole trip. It was quite an inconvenience to have to wait for maintainance 4 different times during the trip on top of switching rooms. The one time we did decide to not wait for the maintainance man to come, we came back to the room hours later and the door still wasn't fixed. Apparently the front desk didn't tell him what the problem was so he ws knocking and waiting for us to tell him what to do. I would absolutely never go back to this hotel and I wouldn't recommend it. RIU needs to get their act together because they are going to give themselves a bad name if this is the type of hotel they are starting to put their name on.

This was one of my most favourite vacations. The hotel was beautiful as was the area. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I did not experience any attitude or rudeness from anyone at the hotel. The food was amazing! The options and quality at every meal was great. We never had to wait for food, or for service. The room was always cleaned by the time we returned from breakfast. the fridge was constantly stocked with the drinks requested and not with the ones we did not want. Being right next door to the Atlantis Resort was great as we were able to go to the casino, as well as walk to the marina to catch a ferry. I highly recommend RIU Paradise Island to others.
