Transportation:
Sorrento is in the middle of a coastline that, besides a number of islands, offers plenty of magnificent places for their naturalistic and landscape value, as well as important historical sites . Not to forget the park around the most famous volcano in the world and the surronding nature. We are in one of the most appreciated areas in the world. World famous islands such as Capri and Ischia, with their exclusive athmosperes, their enchanting corners and the beautiful sea. Unforgettable places such as Positano, Amalfi and Ravello or the precious archeological sites extending from Baia to Herculaneum and Pompeii. HOW TO GET TO SORRENTO BY PLANE:The nearest airport to Sorrento, only 50 km far, is Capodichino www.gesac.it The airport is linked to the main Italian and European towns by different airlines that, often, propose interesting offers depending on the season of the year. From the airport there are different ways to get to Sorrento. The most comfortable and the cheapest as well, if available at your arrival time, is bus service by Curreri. The bus is just outside the arrival gate and for less than 5 euro takes you straight to Piazza Tasso, the main square of Sorrento and in good traffic condition it takes about one hour. Different solutions may be taxi or transfer services that the most agencies in Sorrento offer for a price between 70 and 100 Euro. From the airport there are also buses, taxi and shuttles to the Circumvesuviana rail station from where you can catch the local trains to Sorrento every half hour or to Beverello port from where you catch the hydrofoils and ferries to Sorrento. We suggest you to use these last transports only if you dont find any better solution as they are little comfortable and tiring. HOW TO GET THERE BY TRAIN:the train station Napoli Centrale Piazza Garibaldi of the State Rail www.trenitalia.com is linked to Sorrento by the Circumvesuviana local trains. As soon as you get to Napoli Centrale take the stairs to the underground and youll get to the Circumvesuviana station. The price of the ticket is about 2.60 Euro and you can buy it at the ticket strand or at some newsagent in the station. The journey from Naples takes about one hour and depending on the time, can be more or less comfortable. The trains are infact often crowded but unluckly they represent the fastest and cheapest way to reach Sorrento. HOW TO GET THERE BY CAR:Any direction you are coming from take the highway to Naples. Follow the A3 to the Sorrentine Peninsula and take the Castellamare di Stabia exit. From Castellamare drive along the main road for about 23 km. You pass through the villages of Vico Equense, Santagnello as far as Sorrento, the last village you find. The state road in the most touristic period, from June to September, can be stucked with traffic and sometimes it takes more than one hour to drive the 23 km from Castellamare to Sorrento. HOW TO GET THERE BY SEA:If you are in the town centre of Naples it can be very comfortable to reach Sorrento by sea. There are different hydrofoils and ferries linking Naples to Sorrento. Depending on the transport it takes about 40 minutes to get to Sorrento. The journey is more comfortable than the train one even if more expensive (about the double). The hydrofoils and the ferries get to the port of Sorrento that is about 500 mt far from the town centre. We suggest you to get to the centre by the shuttle buses you find in the little square. As you rich Sorrento follow the road to S. Agata, after 6 km you will see us on your left.

This hotel is a good 20 minute bus ride from the centre of Sorrento. It is more accurate to describe it as St. Agata - which is 1km away. Walking is not an attractive option, although we did walk to restaurants in St Agata on several evenings - there are no pavements and you literally take your life in your hands when walking along the road to the hotel. The buses are ok - reasonable price 2 euro single, reasonable reliability and frequency. Driving in Sorrento and particularly Naples is not for the faint hearted. The hotel provides a pleasant breakfast, but has no restaurant for other meals. This is a shame, as the views from the hotel are spectacular.Given my comment about walking it means bus or taxi every night just to eat. Hotel will recommend some restaurants that will collect and drop you off - although the one we tried ended up costing us double the prce of other meals. Trips offered by the hotel are also overpriced - be organised and get there under your own steam to save a packet. Overall though this is a very pleasant small hotel

It was the best we ever stayed. Only thing missed was the direction to the hotel. It is located pretty far from the town and getting there is not a walking distance. Other than that, I am 1000% satisfied.

The hotel's location is awesome. The view is so picturesque that I did not want to leave. You can just sit on the balcony and stare for hours. There were fireworks in the city that can be viewed from the hotel in the evening. The only bad thing was that the hotel was hard to find, as my GPS did not recognize the address and it took a while.

Ciao!

Beautiful views from room. Rooms were small - barely enough room for luggage. Mold in bathroom all over - ceilings, floors, walls. Our neighbours room smelled of raw sewage and they had to keep their door open to try to air it out. We could smell it from the hall. Our room did not have this but we could faintly smell it from the balcony. Area is a bit far from Sorrento but was good for us as we used this as a home base to go to Amalfi Coast and Sorrento so it was okay for us. Staff was not overly frienldly or helpful but they did their job.

A lovely hotel set high on the cliffs above the bay of Sorrento. The view from our balcony was just as fantastic as it looks on the website. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were all very helpful. If you are going by car, it is possible to avoid the traffic in Sorrento by taking the Amalfi road from Meta. This cuts across the peninsular. After a few kilometres you then turn right towards St Agata and Sorrento. Once you have passed the turning to St Agata on the left the hotel is about another kilometre on the right hand side of the road.

It was in the middle of nowhere. I assumed the hotel would be IN Sorrento. It was a 20 minute drive. If I had wanted to stay outside Sorrento I would have got a hotel in Napoli. My only tip would be to get a different hotel.

English readers, see lower ... Excellent ! English version : Excellent ! Exactly what we hoped. Four persons appartement, kitchen, air cooling, balcony, swimming pool, breakfast included. Staff very efficient and pleasant, from early morning to far in the night ! Bravo and many thanks ! Parking a bit too small but the car had a place and stayed there (public transport preferable according to the local traffic). Exceptional viewpoint, noise acceptable, drinks at every time, Internet Station and even WiFi possible ! So nice stay ...

Staying at Le Terrazze definitely made our holiday! This place has beautiful views from just about everywhere! Our apartment was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Kitchen area included fridge and 2 electric rings (no oven). Plenty of pots and pans, but glad we took our travel kettle. First week in April was a bit cool at times, but the air-conditioning unit doubled as a heater. On hot days we could relax on our terrace, soaking up the views, whilst teenage daughter lounged by the pool. Don’t think the hotel expected the pool to be used at that time of year - water looked rather cloudy and had a plastic pipe floating in it! We were assured that it was OK to use - but too cold for us anyway. The apartment was cleaned, tidied and fresh towels provided daily. The manager was very friendly and courteous. We looked forward to breakfast – help yourself to cereals, delicious bread, rolls, pastries, juice, teas (various) and coffee. (Getting to breakfast promptly is rewarded with a table by the window.) The only disadvantage to staying at this hotel is taking the bus to Sorrento (15 mins/1 euro). The service was generally reliable, but on Palm Sunday the bus didn’t come and we had to make alternative plans. Make sure you pick up a timetable from Reception and don’t miss the last bus back from Sorrento, about 10pm I think. However, waiting for the buses proved to be quite a sociable event as there were often other guests, all trying to get their heads round the timetable! Any inconvenience was outweighed though by the hotel’s proximity to S.Agata. It’s a pleasant 10 minute walk up to this small town where we could buy food for packed lunches, and a little further on is the Il Deserto convent.

The hotel was situated on the top of a mountain with an outstanding view of Sorrento. The services provided the hotel guests was nothing short of exceptional. The place was immaculate and clean and provided a nice breakfast included with the price of the room/apartment. A pool situated on the lower terrace was quite popular with the guests during the heat of the day. A bus both to Sorrento and Positano going in differest directions was convenient and easy to get to other locations. Restaurants that were very good were located as close to next door and around the corner or in sorrento or Positano. Excursions to the Island of Capri could be arranged with pick-up right at the hotel. Our experience here was good and memorable and recommended as a stay while in this area. The hotel is family-owned with the members there taking great pride in their jobs. Outstanding visit and a must stop and visit. I would highly recommend this place for everyone.

The staff were excellent the service was amazing. They were very helpful and passed on useful information. We will be returning next summer and I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Upon our arrival Katia greeted us and was very helpful with bus times and other local information. The manager Antonio continued the excellent service for the duration of our stay. I would also recommend a local restaurant called Dom Pedro.

While the staff (particularly the hostess) need to work on the people-skills, the property as a whole is very nice...if located quite a ways out of town (transport is absolutely necessary, and the property does not have enough parking spots). The views are quite good, with the property located high above Sorrento, and we received a free upgrade from a standard room to a superior suite (including kitchen area, loft, and small refrigerator). Warning for those who are driving: parts of downtown Sorrento are closed to traffic (physically impossible to drive car on certain streets, not just signs saying "Don't Enter!"), so you can easily become trapped down there with no easy way to get back to Le Terrazze. Breakfast was fresh and well-presented, but pretty much the standard Euro-fare (3 bland cereals, fruit, yogurt, meat/cheese tray, croissants). Hauling luggage to and from room is a chore due to no lift and no offer of help from staff. Would probably return to this property, but it's not a "you must stay there" kind of place.

A1 ‘FIRST CLASS’ 5 Stars! These are the terms I would use to describe our holiday in Sorrento spent at La Terraze. Only a ten minute journey by bus to the centre of Sorrento. La Terraze is set high in the Sorrento Hills. We spent from the 1st August to the 10th August there and were blown away by the magnificent views from our terrace apartment. Our room had a shower, basin, toilet and a bidet; a small kitchen and eating area and a double bedroom……with AIR CONDITIONING. The bed linen and towels were changed EVERYDAY and the room was cleaned EVERYDAY. This was a pleasant surprise and made us feel really special. From our balcony we could see Sorrento town, Naples and Vesuvius. The breakfast was light; cereal, yogurts, bread, jams, croissants, fruit juice, tea/coffee which satisfied us until lunch time. The local bus ran to time taking us into town and taking us home. The taxi fare was expensive 27E from town to La Terraze. (we only caught the taxi once.) It is a good idea thought to get a taxi from the airport to La Terraze as this is stress free. (Cost around 100E) but well worth it. We were able to visit all the sights in and around Italy. The Amalfi Coast; Capri; Pompeii; Herculaneum and we even had a trip to Rome on our own by train for the day!! (not recommended for the faint hearted or if you have children). It was a 14 hour day but well worth it. Other times were spent lounging by the pool which was set in a sun trap on the lower terrace. All in all a FANTASTIC time was had at Le Terraze and we would recommend this to anyone going to Sorrento.

My daughter and I stayed in an apartment here, which easily could have accomodated 4 people comfortably. The surroundings are beautiful and we had a great view! The gentleman at the front desk was extremely helpful and pleasant. The only issue we had here was a freezer that was overtaken with ice mass, which we defrosted when we arrived. If you stay here, take the Sita bus from the Circumvesuviana. Call the hotel when you arrive on the train and ask which bus you should take to the hotel. We took a taxi and it cost us $35! Overall, this was a great place to stay!

Hotel La Terazze is not very easy to find, but it worth the efford. The view from the hotel is spectacular. It was a great pleasure to us to stay at La Terazze. The hotel is suitable for families and small groups. The rooms are wide, clean and shiny.

we arrived at le terraze tired+cranky after a long drive and a huge traffic jam. the owner greeted us warmly when we arrived, knew we were on our honeymoon+gave us a lovely room and arranged a beautiful dinner for us-the best of our entire trip. we regrettably only stayed two nights, but our experience at this hotel was one we will treasure for the rest of our lives. thank you very much

Antonio and the Staff of Le Terrazze could not do enough for us. We had stayed at Le Terrazze once before and this time brought our families with us for our wedding in Sorrento. The service, standard of accommodation and unbeatable views of Sorrento first class. The only disadvantage is getting to and from Sorrento. There is a bus service which will get you to and from the town for €1 each way (tickets are available at reception). The only problem with the bus is that it finishes at 22h and you can pay anywhere from €25-€40 for a taxi(one way!!) The best rates for taxi's are available through reception at Le Terrazze. If you have a car Le Terrazze is an ideal location to explore the rest of the amazing Amalfi Coast from. I would have no problem recommending Le Terrazze and would return if visiting Sorrento in the future.

The employees are not so friendly, the rooms are very noisy, the water tap should be revised, moreover the description says there is a free parking, but when the hotel is full it is not enough and you must park along the street!!! As for the rest, the pics are responding to reality and the view breathtaking. Anyway I advised not to go to this hotel if you are not by car!
