We had a nice double room with a large bathroom. Hotel is well situated. The owner is friendly and speaks several foreign languages. The staff made a mistake on the restaurant bill. We had a good stay but price is too high. This is probably due to the proximity of the lake.

my husband and i stayed here from 15 june 2008 for 8 nights. we actually arrived at Bergamo airport late at night so opted for a taxi from airport to hotel - was pricey at 160 euro but worth the hassle free arrival. we loved it here! we barely spoke any Italian (apologies to the staff for that!) but we were made very welcome and somehow coped! the food in the hotel and neighbouring hotel was fabulous. if we were to return to this region we would stay in this hotel again and have made a promise to ourselves to learn some Italian! we didn't hire a car so either walked down and up the hill from hotel to lake side (on the plus point i actually lost weight on this holiday which i am putting down to the hill!). as long as you are reasonably fit then this isn't a problem. there is a local bus that runs twice a day from outside the hotel - costs 1 euro each and you get the ticket from hotel staff or coffee shop near the square. the cable car ride was worth doing for the views you get. we visited Como for the day and also went to Bellagio twice which were both very nice. on the way home we took the morning fast ferry to Como, walked to the train station (10 mins), left our luggage for an hour or so then got the train to Bergamo - not Milan - this was quicker and also hassle free - did 1 change of station but this was ok. right outside the Bergamo train station you catch the bus to the airport. overall we loved this holiday and hope to return. we always book flights separate and use venere to book our hotels and we have yet to be disappointed!

Room was absolutely brilliant, no question about it. Only problem is if you don't have a car. It's quite far from the village Argegno, you can't climb from there at night after few drinks, or you can but it takes a lot of time. The restaurant la Griglia seemed to be very popular and dinner was indeed very good. I can also highly recommend that.

It was a great stay. Perfect place if you have a car, since Como is 20min far away. Fresh air, wonderful view on the mountains (it's not on the lake side), very good restaurant...We recommend the place !

Beautiful secluded and quiet location up in the hills, but not too far away from the main attractions of Lake Como. Lovely rooms and friendly staff, but the highlight was the restaurant, which served the best food of our entire holiday. Would definitely visit again and recommend to everyone. Just be careful driving up the narrow, winding road from the Lake.

There is a big difference between the bedroom's price and the half board price. The restaurant is closed on wednesday. We meet middle age people at the hotel, young and less young at the restaurant which is quite a good one.

Very nice family hotel a bit uphill. Personnel didn't speak too much English but we felt very welcome. We booked two rooms (4 persons) and the other room had a wonderful balcony with some lakeview. Nice restaurant with many courses of authentic italian food, especially home-made pastas were delicious. Nothing much else to do in the neigbourhood except driving down to the city center at the lake but very nice countryside location. Excellent choice!

We had a wonderfull time in this hotel. The owners were great. The restaurant has an excelente food, the room was big, clean, well decorated, with a great view and new. The hotel has more then 30 years and is so well conserved that seams a new hotel. The restaurant has wonderfull dishes. We definitly recomend and come back.

Our room overlooked the lake, spotlessly clean and a bathroom comparable with a 5* hotel. The meal in the restaurant was probably one of the best meals we have had, genuine Italian home-cooking at extremely reasonable prices, particularly considering the location.

The accomodation was fantastic, beautiful rooms, very clean, staff very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant had fab food for dinner. The hotel was located up the hill from the ferry terminal (20 min walk) but the staff came to pick us up with our bags when we arrived and there is also a bus during the day. The area is ideal for long walks and one gets a perfect view over Lake Como when hiking up the 'Pater' path to the church. Frequent ferries make visiting of other towns on the lake easy. The only 'negative' thing would be that breakfast was fairly plain/simple (though plenty) and for people that don't like to walk up the hill at night the location may be not so ideal since arrangements with staff or bus would need to be made.

A great find - unfortunately it rained almost constantly while we stayed there and that's always going to influence impressions. The restaurant was closed the evening we arrived (we didn't realise this was the case when booking) but there is good alternative within 25 meters. La Griglia restuarant is very good.

I was expecting a room overlooking Lake Como but the hotel faced east/west. At least we had a balcony room overlooking a mountain, which was peaceful. Food and restaurant were excellent although not much of a public room. Very good value.

very satisfied altogether. would only suggest to alter the timing for breakfast so that it starts a bit earlier especially when one has to make an early start to get a plane for example.

Initial impression was a bit of a shock as the hotel was full of families celebrating the May Day holiday. Once they had finished lunch, however, we had the place to ourselves and were made most welcome by the family. We appreciated the quiet surroundings and the food was excellent.
