The worst place we have ever had the misfortune to stay. The rainforest villa was disgusting. Despite having Austar Tv guides in the room, there was no antenna cable and so no access to any TV at all. After complaining to reception we were told she could possibly get someone to come and help us with the "poor reception" but as it was late she couldn't guarantee it and oh, by the way, the villas get pretty "poor reception". When I said there was absolutely no reception at all, she backtracked and said we didn't get TV due to the sort of room we had booked (apparently a lovely tranquil 2 bedroom rainforest villa). In short, the room was dirty, microwave full of food splatters, floor sticky and stained, bed linen stained and holes in some sheets, freezing cold (huge open fly screen but no way to keep out cold), too cold to sleep up in loft and ladder too steep and dangerous, bunk bed downstairs huge sag in the middle - we had to end up pulling mattress off and sleeping on floor, tiles missing in bathroom, hairs and dust in sink, cobwebs and dust everywhere, stains and marks on walls and to top it all off we had a member of staff walk in on us - let himself in to our room at 930am before checkout time because "they though we had gone already" - extremely poor service - reception staff gave us false information about shuttle bus timetables and gave us no information about the resort's facilities, other than a map to show were our villa was (which didn't even have a room number on it like the others did).. there seemed to be a large party / function going on in the outdoor pool / deck area where the restaurant was - we were woken several times in the night by drunken party revelers yelling profanities outside our cabin. What was most disappointing was the attitude of the reception staff - basically too bad, put up with it.. when I asked if the other rooms had tv's that worked I was told no, no other rooms had tv reception. This is clearly a lie, as on their own website they boat cable tv in their rooms and why on earth would they have Austar guides in our room if it wasn't meant to be available! - they have a big sign outside stating "Austar" - she never once offered that we could upgrade to another room (even though we would have been willing to pay extra), never offered to show us where the elusive collection of DVDs were - we felt like second class citizens staying in a trailer park. Extremely dissatisfied and will be telling everyone we know exactly what we think of this establishment and their rude staff.

The staff were friendly and very helpful during our stay. The restaurant food and service was of a very high standard, and the fireplaces added a fine ambience to our dining experience. The villas were comfortable and clean.

The people in the hotel were amazing. Friendly, helpful, way over our expectations, even for Australia!
