Kontoyiannis House Kalavasos

We are members of the Cyprus Agrotourism Company, formed about 10 years ago with the help of the Cyprus Tourist Organisation.

Kontoyiannis House is a quiet traditional holiday house in Kalavasos village, centrally located for whole of the island. Kalavassos is a lovely village, caring and hospitable to all its visitors. Kontoyiannis house is a very large family house with secluded courtyard. Come pick grapes while sitting on your balcony or fruit from our orchard!

This is a family house built in the 1840s and refurbished in the 1990s under the Cyprus Agrotourism scheme. It is built around a courtyard housing 4 very spacious apartments. The house has lots of character and is great to get away from it all. Lots of people revisit and others like to rent it as a villa for large family holidays.

We are situated in the valley of Kalavasos dam. There are lots of orchards nearby with oranges and olives among other fruit. You are quite welcome to visit us in the winter season when we pick olives and you might also get a chance to see how olive oil is made. We will also take you to see how traditional halloumi cheese is made if you so wish. For swimming, Governors beach is nearby and ideal for families with lots of nice beaches and restaurants.

Centrally located whole of Cyprus. 5 mins drive sea, Governors beach and Zigi fishing village. Lots of restaurants. We are 20 mins from Limassol, 25 minutes from Larnaca airport and 30 mins from Nicosia 1 hours drive from Paphos. Come pick grapes while sitting on your balcony or fruit from our orchard! We are central to the whole of the island with many archeological sites nearby one being the neolithic village of Chirokitia, which is some 7000 years old and a world heritage site.
We are half way between Limassol and Larnaca, near the fishing village of Zigi and the lovely beaches of Governors Beach.
We are not very far from the mountains and you could easily enjoy the mountains and the sea the same day if you were so inclined

All are apartments are large.
Each apartment has at least one bedroom with two beds in it.
We can cater for up to 2-3 extra persons on sofabeds if required.
All apartments have a very large kitchen/Lounge area with TV.
All apartments have large bathrooms with proper bath as well as shower
Two of the apartments open out onto the courtyard area and the other two have balconies overlooking it. All apartments have access to the courtyard area which is very relaxing.
The entrance of the house opens into a lovely shaded hall with room to relax and pass the time of day.

We have wonderful fruit in our orchard which guests are invited to visit and pick their own fruit.
We have olives which guests are invited to pick with us and to see how olive oil is made.

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, 50 percent of all nights will be charged.

Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
Up to two further older children or adults are charged EUR 10.00 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.

Deposit Policy: 20 percent of the total amount will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable.

VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
Service charge is included.
City/tourist tax is included.

Internet: Internet via modem is available in the hotel rooms and charges are applicable.

Meal Plan: Breakfast is not included, breakfast menu is available and costs vary.

Parking: Free public parking is possible at a location nearby.

Pets: Pets are allowed on request. Charges may be applicable.

The hotel reserves the right to pre-authorise credit cards prior to arrival.

Directions to Kontoyiannis House

From Larnaca Airport:

It is not very difficult to get to the house from Larnaca Airport. All you need to do is follow the signs for Limassol (it takes about 30-45 minutes to reach Kalavassos).

As soon as you come out of the airport there is a small roundabout - you follow the signs for Limassol do not go into LARNACA. You will then get to another large roundabout - again keep on the road towards Limassol you will now be on the main motorway. Drive towards Limassol until you see the slip road for Kalavassos (Junction 15).

Its very easy to get to Kalavassos, just be careful when you are coming from Larnaca once you turn off the motorway, you will reach a crossroads turn left pass the petrol station then turn left under the bridge. You just have to be careful you do not miss the sign to Kalavassos on your right or you will end up on the motorway again. After you pass bridge 1, you can go either through the village to get to the house or take the road that says to ‘Kalavassos dam’. If you take the road to the dam the house is left at bridge 2 on the map

We need to know approximate time of arrival so that we can arrange for someone to be there to greet you.

From Paphos Airport:

It takes about an hour to get to Kalavassos from Paphos Airport.

On leaving Paphos airport, go straight for 1 1/2 to 2 km till you reach a T-Junction. Follow signs for the Motorway towards Limassol. After I km turn left, this will lead you to a small roundabout, follow the signs for Limassol and this will bring you onto the slip road to the motorway. When you get near Limassol, do not go into town but follow the signs for the Larnaca/ Nicosia motorway. Go over all the roundabouts which go through Limassol, do not go into town, just keep following the signs for Larnaca/ Nicosia. Kalavassos is at Junction 15. The turning into Kalavassos is your first left as soon as you get onto the slip road, you will know you are there because you will see the valley below you!
