Description:Keekorok is located within Kenyas Masai Mara National Reserve which is at an Altitude of 1,617 metres above sea level. Accommodation is on a Full Board basis that includes morning tea or coffee, breakfast, luncheon, afternoon tea and dinner. Luncheon boxes are available by prior request for guests taking all-day game drives. Located in the very heart of Kenyas fabled Masai Mara National Reserve, Keekorok, meaning motley abundance in the local Masai language, was constructed in 1962 on a choice eighty acre site in an area of permanent springs and lush grassland. The Masai Mara National Reserve is habitually teeming with wildlife. It is home to literally millions of plains game and their attendant predators particularly during the months from July to October when the migration of wildebeest and zebra reaches its northern apogee. All kinds of animals and birds abound: 95 species of mammals and reptiles, and an astonishing 485 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve.

Area Attractions - Game Drives Keekorok operates a fleet of custom-built four-wheel drive vehicles with roof hatches designed for game viewing in comfort and safety. Places for game drives may be in booked in advance or on arrival at the Lodge. The recommended times for game drives are: 06.30h to 08.30h 09.30h to 12.30h 16.30h to 18.30h There are game drives and game drives and our driver / guides take pride in their intimate knowledge of the reserve (Masai Mara or Samburu) in which they operate.Driver Guides are qualified by the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA). Bird walks These are taken every day at 10.00pm with the resident naturalist. A fee is chargeable. Hot Air Ballooning Baloon safaris have been operated for many years using fully qualified pilots and state of the art imported balloons and baskets. Flights are operated daily depending on prevailing weather conditions and take off at 06.30 usually for 60 minutes duration. A full English breakfast and sparkling wine or Bucks Fizz are served adjacent to the landing site prior to a short game drive back to the Lodge to arrive by 11.30 am. Local regulations restrict flights to adults and children aged 6 years and over. Masai Dancing At 21.30 on evenings alternating with the showing of a wildlife video, a troop of Masai Morans (young men) entertain guests to a 30 minute display of traditional dancing. Wildlife Film This is shown on video and alternates with evenings of displays of tribal dancing. Swimming Pool This is located in an enclosed area shaded by flowering shrubs. It is provided with sun beds and a pool side bar serves drinks and snacks between the hours of 10.00 and 17.00.
