Bermuda International Airport (BDA): Approximate driving time is 5 minutes and distance is 0.5 miles. Getting there: Rental cars are not allowed by the government but a government-licensed shuttle service, Bee Line Transport, meets all flights. Trips to the hotel can be arranged at the Bee Line desk outside the arrivals hall for USD 5-15 per person round trip. (The Bermuda dollar is on par with the US dollar and US dollars are widely accepted.) Metered taxi fare is USD 5-15. Fees subject to change without notice. Public buses pick up near the departures area but do not allow luggage on board.
Shuttle vans or private cars of varying prices are available. They can be selected during the process of booking an air-inclusive reservation for this hotel, via this Web site, and added to the total trip cost.
Getting around: For shopping, dining, and entertainment choices beyond this property, guests usually travel to either Hamilton or St. George's. Bermuda does not allow visitors to rent cars, but it runs a convenient public bus service, popular with both residents and visitors alike. Pink buses stop in front of the hotel and can whisk passengers to St. George's in about 10 minutes and to downtown Hamilton in about 25 minutes. Single fares are less than USD 5 but a better deal is the bus pass (1- day: USD 5-15 and 3-days: USD 16-25) which is also good for ferry travel. Public ferries leave from the terminal on Front St in Hamilton for Paget, Warwick, Dockyard, St. George's, Rockaway, and Somerset with most single fares less than USD 5. Fees subject to change without notice. Schedules vary according to season and day of the week. Bicycles can be rented (USD 5-15 a day) although they are second in choice to more popular mopeds (more than USD 36 a day.) Driving is on the left side of the road. The hotel also offers complimentary shuttle service within the grounds of its own property.

We went during the winter month in Bermuda but it was still better then 25 degree Phila. The staff was friendly and there is a tea every afternoon. The bus is right at the beginning of the drive. The day passes are the way to go. There is lots to see. There are cave at the hotel. Food at the hotel is great but expensive. The Swizzle Inn is walking distance with good food for less. The only negative was the ice machine at our building didn't work. Would like to return during the summer.

this is the closest hotel to the beach, and you can watch the planes take off just across the water while lying on the beach. we were on the beach 20 min after our planes landede. the swimming caves were really neat and there's lots to do on the hotel grounds alone. to get there from the airport, you can't walk because there's no sidewalk on the bridge, but it is a 2 min cab ride ($8) or a 2 min bus ride ($2.50).

This was our first visit and we loved it! Everyone was friendly and very helpful. The bus transportation was great and allowed us to get to all the locations we wanted to visit. The snorking spots suggested by the staff were very interesting. The guest services staff were very helpful. We plan on returning for another visit very soon.

This is the 4th time that my wife & I have gone to Bermuda. This is the first time staying at the Grotto Bay. I was pleasantly suprised at what additional ammenities were included when we checked in. We had gone with the all-inclusive but did not realize that covered drinks of all kinds, ferry passes and bus passes. The bathrooms need to be updated but the room we satyed in was very nice and clean. The service we received was first class and everone was friendly and helpful.

My husband surprised me with a trip to Bermuda for my 50th birthday and we stayed at Grotto Bay. We’d stayed there about 10 years ago when we vacationed with our daughter and a friend of hers. Just as we’d remembered, everyone was very pleasant and more than accommodating. He’d requested an early check-in and not only was our room was ready and waiting for us when we arrived shortly after noon, but they been informed it was my 50th birthday and had upgraded our room at no charge. What a nice surprise. We left the room number, as instructed, with the gentleman out front and within 20 minutes our luggage was delivered to our room. Shortly thereafter we left for a relaxing lunch at the poolside bar, which also overlooks the beach. Bus transportation is a great way to get around and there bus stop at the entrance of the resort. I believe scooter rentals are on the premises, but we don’t use them. (I had a not so pleasant experience in the early ‘81). There are several sites of interest all within walking distance. Not to mention the Swizzle Inn is a two minute walk down the road. The entire experience at Grotto Bay was just as we’d remembered and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone traveling to Bermuda. It’s a smaller place and doesn’t have the hustle and bustle of a large 400+ room resort, but we're not into that type of place. We only take a vacation about every 5 or so years and when we go we’re there to relax. What a great way to spend my 50th birthday. I can’t wait to go back.
