Description:Hotel Dei Dogi, situated in the historic centre of Venice, is hosted by the Rizzo Patarol palace, a splendid 17th century building, once an ambassador's residence, with a beautiful garden. The hotel combines glorious past and modern comfort, assuring a unique stay in Venice.
Description:
Location. The canalside Dei Dogi, A Boscolo Luxury Hotel is in Venice, Italy, in the northern Cannareggio quarter. It is 500 metres from the Rialto Bridge and Jewish Ghetto, and one kilometre from St Mark's Square and the Bridge of Sighs.

Hotel Features. The four-storey Dei Dogi, A Boscolo Luxury Hotel was originally an 18th-century French ambassador's residence and then a convent. Two six-foot-tall Murano-glass chandeliers and stained-glass doors decorate the high-ceilinged, marble-floored lobby. A gallery overlooks the lagoon.

Tuscan-red walls and bare beams decorate the Giardino di Luca Restaurant. International and Venetian dishes are served at tables decorated with silver plates and Murano-glass candleholders. Guests can enjoy alfresco dining on the terrace all day, weather permitting. Murano-glass chalices decorate the American Bar, which serves drinks, snacks and six whisky varieties from noon til late.

The Dei Dogi, A Boscolo Luxury Hotel offers meeting rooms, business services and high-speed Internet connections in public areas (surcharge).

High walls conceal the courtyard garden, and shaded pathways lead to the lagoon. Complete with arched bridge, fountain, picnic spot and terrace, the garden retains some of its original landscaped features. Spa ClubH2O, the hotel's full-service spa, offers body treatments, facials and massages along with a wellness centre with a fitness area, sauna, Turkish bath, spa tub, relaxation area and solarium.

Guestrooms. Murano-glass chandeliers, marble desks, Oriental rugs and gilt-framed mirrors decorate the luxurious Dei Dogi's climate-controlled guestrooms, some with canal or garden views. Rooms, furnished with gold-and-red silks and 18th- century antique and replica furniture, all have satellite television, minibars and safes.

Expert Tip. The hotel is a block away from Venice's Madonna dell'Orto church. It is renowned for paintings by 16th-century painter Tintoretto, a former Cannareggio resident, who is buried there.

Transportation:
From Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE):
Distance to Piazzale Roma, Venice's main entry point, is 13 kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.

Getting there. ATVO buses run every 30 minutes to Piazzale Roma in the city centre. The journey time is 20 minutes and single tickets cost 3 EUR. The ACTV number 5 bus also goes to Piazzale Roma. The number 15 bus runs between the airport and Venice-Mestre train station. At Piazzale Roma, water buses (vaporetto) are available. The closest stops to the hotel are S. Marcuola and Orto. The hotel also arranges private water-taxi transport from the airport to the hotel and offers a complimentary shuttle boat between the hotel and Rialto Bridge. A free bus service links the airport terminal to the airport jetty; from here, regular Alilaguna boats leave for the city. Single tickets cost 10 EUR. Private water taxis are available, but are typically very expensive. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. The hotel is on Fondamenta Madonna Dell Orto. Venice's historic centre is just eight square kilometres (three square miles) and is best explored on foot or by public water buses (vaporetto) which also connect Venice with the lagoon's main islands of Murano, Burano, Torcello and the Lido. The Lido is a ten-minute boat ride from St Mark's Square. Vaporetti 1 and 82 run down the Grand Canal from Piazzale Roma to St Mark's Square. Three-day passes for the public water bus cost 25 EUR and offer unlimited travel. Water taxis and gondolas are also available - hotel staff can order water taxis on request. Gondola ferries (traghetti) cross the Grand Canal and the fare is 50 cents. Drivers can leave their cars at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto.

Ive always had excellent service but this time it was beyond brilliant so maybe Boscolo has read the negative reviews and theyre bending over backwards. This is a sumptuous 17th century palace with an intimate feel and a long garden of century-old trees, gravel paths, rose pergolas and a covered jetty to watch sunset over the lagoon. The staff are efficient, attentive and kind. The hotel is not next to St Markss but neither is it a backwater. Youre 10 minutes from the Rialto Bridge. Or jump on the free hotel launch. The area is quiet and picturesque, with the feel of a fishing village Arrival is simple: Orange line to Orto and youre 4 mins walk from the hotel. But its fiddly, so download a map first. Ive always had a perfect room. But if you book for autumn/spring and theyre full and it would kill you not to have a huge room, go elsewhere. Though in my experience youll have that problem everywhere. This is paradise. And if beauty isnt your thing, why go to Venice?

Unfortunately, the hotel is too faraway from the major areas of Venice. The frequency of trips to St Marks is not enough - and also not advertised well. The spa services - not the best in the world.

It was in a great location. The room was large and, while in the style of Venice,it had all the modern amenities, especially the bathroom which was spacious and decorated in marble. The staff was helpful and spoke English, which made it comfortable since I don't speak Italian very well. It's location made it very easy to get to and from the airport. It had a beautiful court yard. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This remarkable hotel, formerly the Grand Hotel Dei Dogi, is off a quiet canal near Madonna Del Orto. It has a wonderfully large and beautiful lobby with attentive staff. The outdoor restaurant and garden are very romantic and unlike anything else in Venice. One might think of its location as being a disadvantage, so far from San Marco, but there is a private launch to shuttle guests to and from San Marco 6 times daily. One has the peace and serenity of a lovely 5-5tar hotel without the summer crowds.

Location was away from St. Marks Square. Provided a boat shuttle but was broken twice. Asked for extra towels at 10 am. Was told that this was not possible at this time. Went to the towel storage room and got my own. Asked to speak to the manager and was told manager was not available for 1/2 hour. Never showed up. Was told by front desk that problem do happen and that should be expected.

Whilst the hotel is no doubt beautiful, the room was pokey, our shower didn't work the first morning and we were woken up by the room above. But the biggest issue was service. The staff were very pleasant but you had to go and find the barman every time you wanted a drink and we were left stranded at St Mark's when the hotel boat broke down. Any other 5 star hotel I know would have simply sent a water taxi to get us rather than abandoning us. Then the hotel's response was unbelievable - they said the boat was not a guaranteed service - which was NEVER communicated, nor is it made clear on the website. It is a half an hour walk to St Mark's, which was fine on every other occassion than this one when we needed to get back to pack before diner. NOT a 5 star hotel - the rooms and service simply aren't up to that.

I had difficulty communicating with the staff, they were unfriendly and unprofessional. I think they only had 3 staff on duty at all time. The hotel is old and smelly. It is located way off the strip and behind a dumpster! It was not worth the money we paid for! And it is definitely not a 5 star hotel. We stayed at a 4 star hotel in Rome and London and it was so much better than this one. My friends and I are very disappointed that this hotel did not turned out to be what we though a 5 star hotel should be.

We really enjoyed the hotel, location, the friendly staff, and the beautiful boat that took us to St.marks square and burans. We really enjoyed the stroll from the hotel and taking pictures on the bridges. This really reflected the true view of Venice. We have wonderful memories of Venice and would recommend the hotel very much. We stayed at the hotel before and after a cruise to Greece, and the staff was extremely helpful and professional.

Beautiful and classy lobby, magical garden especially at night, nice quiet and true venitian neighborhood away from the tourist crowd, convenient private boat service, nice big bedroom overlooking the garden although wallpaper and furniture needs to be refreshed. On the down side : the bar closes too early, and the breakfast, restaurant and minibar are way too expensive. Overall, a very nice place to stay, a small intimate five stars with a good value considering the high prices of venice hotels.

It was a long way to the center/tourist area and the walk was not quick as the crowds in Venice were large. The hotel was quite nice, just didn't have a good location. The shuttle boat to St Marks Square didn't really run often enough.

The first room we were given was tiny and faced the back of the hotel with the garbage; therefore it smelled. We were dissatisfied and were shown some other similar, unacceptable rooms. The next day we were switched to a much better room facing the street/canal and that was lovely. We were appreciative but it did take 24 hours for this to be accomplished. The front desk was helpful but not as friendly as at some other hotels in which we stayed. Also, the price of the room did not include breakfast, which was about 20 euros ($25). The location was very good and the recommendation for a cafe was excellent. The lobby was beautiful.

The hotel is beautiful, however we stayed in hotels just as nice for a fraction of the price. It is located on the opposite side of Venice from most of the shops, sights and restaurants. They also charge 22 Euro or person for breakfast and 10 neuron to use the Internet when this was included everywhere else we stayed in Italy.

Beautiful hotel in a peaceful location - off the well trodden tourist routes but within comfortable walking distance of many bars/restaurants. Lovely garden with sunbeds for relaxation. Public areas of high quality. The room was rather expensive for its size and location. We stayed for 4 nights and most of the rooms on our corridor seemed to be allocated to tour groups. This meant disturbance from early risers and also that the maid service was ever-present (vacuum cleaners and laundry bins parked permanently on the corridor!) There was no view whatsoever from the room. Food and drink prices are very expensive in this hotel - however it is a lovely place to stay!

Hotel was very clean and beautiful. Bathroom is luxurious, overall beautiful and comfortable. location was not good, far from St. Mark's and shuttle provided by hotel was not frequent enough hence very inconvient. Food was okay but very expensive. Breakfast 36 Euros+10service charge. Very expensive food but the quality is not all that great. not worth eating here.

this hotel is a dream come true. We first came to this hotel in 1999, and we were very impressed. Nowadays, it s even better, because they extended the private garden, and is probably the only hotel in venice with a so huge garden. We were located at the end of this beautiful garden. The rooms were spacious with a lot of venitians charming details and a private patio with a table and chairs, unfortunately the weather was not part of the dream at the time, so we didnt used it very much, but nevertheless, it was quite enjoyable... This hotel is one our favorite all around the world because of its refined atmosphere, its perfect service, and also for its location, out of the most touristic area, near the casino, but only 15 minutes from San Marco. If you want to enjoy the real Venice, where you gonna meet real venitians, go to this hotel! I recommend strongly this hotel! which is, for me, almost perfect!

A beautiful place away from the normal hustling and bustling of Venice (but you can be there in 15' walk). We liked the lobby, the bar, the restaurant, the garden, the room. Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. - We liked the food at the restaurant, albeit a little bit pricey (Pesce crudo with a distinct Sashimi touch was delicious). Restaurant staff needs improvement (attention, skills). - The location indicated on Venere.com map was incorrect and we walked way too long. If it takes you longer than 3' from vaporetto station Madonna dell'Orto to the hotel then you are doing something wrong! - We will definitifely come back!!
