The hotel is a bargain for its price since it is located at the Central district of Hong Kong and it is right next to the Hong Kong Garden. Initially, I have booked a standard room but the hotel upgraded my room to a deluxe room without extra charge because its standard room bookings are full. For a tourist class hotel, this is definitely a bargain especially when you are traveling to Hong Kong.

The Garden View YMCA Hotel was extremely good value in an excellent location within 10 mins walk of Central. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. Staff at reception were not particularly helpful but this did not affect my visit.

Had an unfortunate incident on our 4th day of stay at The Garden View. While my nephew was taking a bath at around 9am, the water coming out of the shower suddenly became very hot and then it eventually stopped. When we inquired at the hotel desk, we were informed that the water pipes burst. We had no choice but to go out without taking our shower and brushing our teeth (eeyew!!!). The water eventually came back at around seven in the evening.

The hotel itself is nice but it is a fair walk to the metro and the only thing nearby is a gas station. That being said, taxis are plentiful and it's not too far by taxi to Lan Kwai Feng or WanChai etc

Reserved No Smoking Room but none available, however room and floor didnt smell of smoke so no problems. Staff very helpful and even though this was a budget hotel it was excellent Value for Hong Kong. Restauraunt was Chinese ( naturally) so dont expect western fare at breakfast. Standard Rooms only have twin beds which were a little small for big guys. Very good location with a walk through the Zoo gardens to Central Hk and all this offers. Taxi ride HK$20. As a YW dont expect Mini Bars, but fridge stocked with soft drinks.

Nice facilities until you enter the room where the carpets are horribly stained and the windows filthy. Swimming pool and gym closed at 5.00 so no chance of use in the evening but it was however fine for the purpose but just over priced.

Great hotel, recently refurbed, clean and decent rooms. Promo price was good, $100 US/day A little out of the way wish there were a few places to eat closeby but a nice botanical garden within walking distance for families.

The rooms are adequate, pleasantly decorated and clean. The drawback is that the hotel is located away from any restaurants or shops which is an important limitation because there are no in-hotel breakfast or dining facilities and thus no room service. However, the seeming isolation in the Mid-levels, with little public transport serving the area, is not the major problem it first appears, as in my experience taxis appear at a couple of minute intervals for the short, cheap run into the Central shopping district.

excellent, very happy with stay. only wish would be to give free internet access. location is in one of the best residential districts, and a short 5 min walk to victoria peak tram, and slow 15 min walk to the central metro station. hotel staff very friendly and helpful in giving advice. Loved our stay here.

very clean, nice views from window - limited choice of tv channels. Not luxurious but friendly service and good location not within walking distance of much but not to far in taxi's

The beds at the Garden View are extremely hard. I slept very poorly for the first couple of nights due to the hardness of the bed. Hotel Management should look into providing a more comfortable bed for international guests. Alternatively, they should invest in an soft underlay which would aleviate the firmness.

The rooms are super clean and nice for the price that you are paying because they had just renovated them. The internet access in the room is poor though. They are not wireless connection and the signal is very low. Did not check out the facilities.

the location is not very convinient .a map should be given to your guest if they want to walk to the centre of town. I had a most pleasant walk to Central and it should be recommended as they are good walking path connecting the hotel to the city centre.
