The hotel itself is fine despite the rather grotty entrance courtyard and idiosyncratic lift. Staff were welcoming and efficient. My room was clean and comfortable although not large. The breakfast was quite good for Italy, although the breakfast area is cramped in a corridor. Some fair value restaurants in the area and near the bus route 64 for the central sights. A 15 minute walk from the station. A little overpriced perhaps, but it is Rome.

Our recent 2 week trip through Italy meant we would needed a hotel that was clean, comfortable and near transportation (train station) since we would be going to multiple cities for only 2-3 days each. Hotel Galatea was a perfect match for our stay in Rome. It was only a 10 minute walk with luggage from the train station, yet far enough away to not be in the typically less savory environment around the station. The hotel also represented a good value for Rome. The location was an $8-10 taxi ride from the Vatican (which is worth the ride unless you are up for a 50 minute walk) and 20 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and even closer to the Roman Forum. Hotel staff was very friendly and rooms were perfect for our short stay. The bathrooms were by far the largest we had during our 5 city tour. I would definately be happy to stay at the Galatea again.

The Galatea was wonderfully located for our tour of Rome. We enjoy walking, and felt comfortable walking from the hotel to most of the sites. We took the metro to the Vatican and spent the afternoon working our way back to the hotel on foot, enjoying the neighborhods. There is shopping and many resaurants all within a block or two of the hotel. The staff was friendly and generally helpful. Breakfast was good but not a large selection you could find in other places. The rooms were simple, clean, plenty of space and comfortable. Our rooms(a double and a triple) had typical euro beds, very nice baths and beautiful shutters that opened out onto a pleasant street below. Don't be put off by the entrance from the street. You enter thru large doors into a courtyard/driveway. Then procede around to stairs that you can walk up, or take a tiny elevator to the third floor. When you see the glass door and enter the lobby you will be relieved that you have made a good choice! Especially for the price.

We had a nice time in Hotel Galatea Rome. The room and bathroom are spacious, clean and confortable. Front desk staff is kind and very helpfull . For us, it was quite enough for the price we paid. There are only two things to consider. The hotel is located on the 3rd. floor of a very old building with a dirty courtyard and old elevator, so the first impression is not good. Once you get to the 3rd. floor everything is new and prety. The other thing is the breakfast which is very poor. There is only a coffe/capuccino machine, some bread, cream cheese, butter and juice. Well, for us it wasn't a big deal, so we enjoyed our honeymoon in Rome.

After passing through the unpromising entrance and taking the lift to the third floor, the door ahead opened on to a calm, clean and well appointed hotel. Our room was quiet and comfortable, breakfast was adequate and the staff helpful. The hotel location is convenient for the principal sights and there are some good and inexpensive restaurants nearby. Overall the Galatea exceeded our expectations.

Great hotel, very good positioning, easy access to major objectives and to Termini train station. Good personal, nice rooms, many american visitors in the hotel. I would have give it a 10 if it weren't for the big stain on the wall in the rooms, but in rest all was great. Regards.

Hotel entrance is a bit disconcerting b/c it appears you are walking into a (dark) residential building. Once you exit the elevator, though, you enter a warm, modern, tastefully updated and boutique-like lobby. The rooms are spacious, clean, neat and nicely decorated. All of the staff was very nice and very helpful.

Very friendly staff discussing the best places to visit and making notes on a free map, even lending us an umbrella. Lovely large room with good sized en-suite overlooking the road. the room lacked accessories such as pictures but had a free electronic safe in the room and reasonable storage space. The hotel is situated on the 4th floor of a typical Italian apartment block with lift. The block had a run down appearance outside but very pleasant inside.. the access arrangement seems strange and the entrance at ground level was not as welcoming as the photo, but once you were up at reception the building decor and hotel was very good. The included breakfast was a good cold buffet with cakes, ham and cheese, coffee, etc. Located a good 15min walk from the main train station it was ideal to visit the Colleseum and Trevi fountain. Value for money seemed good and we would likely stay there again. For food I recommend the trattoria just down the road from from Pasta love as they do a 10 Euro set lunch or better still the 18 Euro menu, very good value for money, even the local businessmen use it!

The hotel was nice, clean, comfortable, but loud in the mornings. The location was great. The beds are a little harder than Americans are use to, but no big deal. Breakfast was nice, but not alot of variety. Overall the hotel was great, and I would stay there again. The restaurant downstairs was great and stayed open pretty late. We would go there almost everynight for a glass of wine (or two) before heading up to the hotel.

Pros: room was ok, employees really kind and competent, location close to a lot of famous places. Cons: no Internet access, not even a PC in the common areas, breakfast was ok for me, but I guess that other people would complain lack of food variety.

Very friendly, helpful staff (we left our camera in a local restaurant and they are in the process of helping us get it back). Lovely clean hotel, great shower, good breakfast and good value. Ask for a room away from reception as this can be noisy from 06:30 onwards! Handy (15 - 20 minute walk) for a lot of the sights (Colliseum, Forum, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona) and only a five minute walk to the nearest Metro and ten minute walk to Termini.

The hotel was easy to find - a ten-minute walk from Termini station, but you do need to cross some very busy roads which can be rather daunting - especially if you're carrying suitcases. The hotel provides good, clean accommodation and a decent breakfast. The staff are very helpful - they quickly supplied extra pillows when requested and went out of their way to give us a breakfast when we had to leave early for our flight home. The rooms are reasonably spacious and very clean, and the bath is a great selling point. The location of the hotel could hardly be bettered - ten minutes walk from Termini station, from the Spanish Steps and the Colosseum and Forum. A frequent bus service runs down the Via Nazionale to St. Peter's at one end and Termini at the other. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. All in all a hotel I can highly recommend - and not too expensive either!
