All of the benefits of a large hotel with the friendliness of a smaller family run establishment

Décor very tacky and over the top. Disappointing for a castle-turned-hotel. Room was very small and bathroom was in need of work. The location is great though - just a few minutes away from a pretty village with fantastic views of the bay. Customer service was generally very good, except that it took us nearly an hour to get our lunch, due to being sent downstairs to the Dungeon restaurant that wasn't actually open. We wanted a cooked meal but in the end had to make do with sandwiches from the bar. Pool was great, and its staff were very friendly and helpful.

Booked to stay in hotel for two nights but hotel was so nice that my wife and myself stayed for one more night. The additional bonus that the hotel has is its location which gives access to 1. Beach 2. Short distance from Dalkey village to shop and eat 3. Beside Killiney Hill which is excellent for a walk

Very Good hotel all round. Dungeon restaurant very good. Service and standards very good. Bar prices fair and quality of beer good. Cocktails in the main very good although a little pricey. Some bar-staff a bit inconsistent in their prep of cocktails. However, i'll definitely be back.

This was a fantastic place to stay , wonderful views from the hotel . We were close to several lovely beaches. The hotel was lovely, big rooms, very clean , lots of space. Great big seating area in lounge with bar and with loads of room . Swimming pool very inviting and not always full of kids, different sessions which was good. Two restaurants on site, both great. Very pleased with stay here would certainly recommend.

Excellent and friendly staff from arrival to departure. Great buzz in hotel although relaxing at the same time. Many international guests which added to the enjoyment. Nice touches during stay including mints left on the bed in the evening. Although facilities to make tea and coffee were available in the room, some bottled water would have been welcome. Will recommend

I would recommend this hotel to couples if booking through Late Rooms, since only double occupancy rooms were offered at the time that we booked there. Family rooms were available as well (at an additional charge) if requested directly from the hotel. The room was spacious and well appointed. However, I do not recommend the Dungeon restaurant as the food was expensive and wasn't very good.

This hotel is a very stylish hotel from the outside and also the main facilities downstairs. The rooms on the other hand in my opinion are not up to 4* standard. We were upgraded to an executive double room with no air con in a smoking room which I think is essential. Windows opened to about 2 inches which let in very little ventilation. The room itself was big and spacious and very dreary. Lots of space but lacked finishing touches like drinking glasses, clock, slippers, evening change of towels etc. No remote control for tv on arrival though one was delivered when I contacted reception. Shower curtain in bathroom was stained with dried sick which was'nt very nice to look at each time you entered the bathroom. With all the negatives the staff were really nice and friendly and the reception and lounge area were very tastefully decorated. Overall for the bedrooms, I would say a good overhauling was needed.

We were upgraded to a suite overlooking Dublin Bay which was unexpected. The room was spacious and provided an excellent view of Dublin at night. Two doors opened to a private balcony which was very nice. The room was dusty and could use a good cleaning. The bed was very comfortable. We ate at The Dungeon one night and the food was excellent. We ate breakfast at PJ's twice and the buffet was very good. The fresh fruit was outstanding. The train into Dublin is about a twenty minute walk from the hotel. We took advantage of this and it proved to be an excellent option to driving. We found a free church parking lot in Dalkey and parked there for the entire day.Overall, it was the best value for the money of our entire trip to Ireland.

Having got married at this hotel 12 months ago, the things that always strike me about it includes: the quality of the staff and service and also the attention to detail. Be it the courtesy apples on the check in desk, the pleasantness of the staff, the quality of the food in PJs restaurant, or the beautiful tranquil location. A lovely place to stay (though not really on the Dublin doorstep).
