Hotel Columbia was about a 10 minute walk from the train station (we took the train from the Rome airport). This was our first time in Rome and we found the Hotel location convenient: about a 25 minute walk to the Coliseum and ancient Rome, close to City Tour buses that originate from the train station. I would stay at the Hotel Columbia again. It was very clean and the hotel staff very polite.

The room was huge in comparison to other rooms we had in Italy. The air conditioning was the best as well. The concierge was extremely helpful. Breakfast was outstanding in selection and service--and the rooftop setting made it even more enjoyable. Located very near the main train station--easy to get to without the need for taxi or public transportation. And easy to get to the subway system and busses as well. Many nearby restaurants. A lift for all 5 floors makes life easy. We cannot say enough good things about the Columbia.

Slightly more expensive, but not bad for a big city. Rooms were small but nice. Very comfortable and not at all noisy. Conveniently located, close to the train station and in a safe area. Breakfast was included and better than standard (breads, coffee, eggs, assorted meats). We booked 8 hotels thru venere.com and all of them turned out as were advertised.

Great hotel for the price. It had a great AC system that kept us cool even though outside was in the 90's. Location is good because it is by the metro and bus terminal to get almost anywhere is the city pretty fast. If you want to be near a more popular area this is not the hotel for you, but if you just need a good home base while visiting the sites I would strongly recommend this hotel.

We were very pleased with our rooms at the Columbia. Although small, they were clean, quiet and air-conditioned. We loved the rooftop garden for breakfast and drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is handy, since you can walk to the train station, although you have to walk a while or take the metro to get to most of the tourist sites.

Great location. Train, subway, and bus terminals are 2 to 3 blocks from hotel. If you fly into Rome, take train to main terminal,9.50 euros for a ticket, vs around 80 euros for a taxi. Staff very friendly, and helpful. Met owner, who was very pleasant and appreciated our stay at the hotel. Manableable walking distances to Trevi Fountain, Coloseum, Forum,Piazza Venezia, popular shopping streets etc. Vatican and areas near there a pretty good walk, but taking bus or subway will take care of this. Inexpensive too-1 Euro per ticket. Noise from street can be a bit of a problem, but with windows closed, no problem. Resturants in area are very good, and mostly reasonable. Would stay here again!!!

The hotel was convienently located near the train station, we were able to find it easily at night with luggage, no problem. The hotel staff was very nice. Room was nice considering it was Rome and is smaller and older than US hotels. Breakfast was excellent. The location is not quiet, which is bad when trying to rest but good because there is life nearby.

This was our first time in Rome and we did not really know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by the fact that our room was quiet and were able to sleep well. The person on duty was very competent and spoke 6 languages! She even arranged to have a breakfast in a bag brought to our room the night before since we were leaving on an early flight and would miss the usual breakfast time. The room was small but I think that Americans are spoiled by the supersizing of everything including hotel rooms and I think that since we spent very little time in our room, it was more than adequate (and it was quiet!)

The Hotel Columbia was a perfect place to stay in Rome.We arrived at the airport and took the train in to Roma. From there you can walk to the hotel,so bring luggage with rollers. The taxis are a total rip off.The front desk welcomed us and showed us to a spacial room that over looked the street. The building across the way way having some work done so there was a lot of banging and crashing while we were there.Of course that's a seasonal thing, and it didn't totally ruin the mood. The front desk gave us ideas for dinner-great restaurants,tours-the most beautiful city to tour and how to manouver the subway which a block away and costs a euro one way. When I go back to Rome which isnt soon enough,I will stay at The Hotel Columbia.A perfect spot in Roma.

The hotel is an easy five minute walk from the train station. From the front of the train station, turn left and cross the street. Now face to your right and go 1 1/2 blocks to the street just past the art museum, which is surrounded by a metal fence. Turn left. The hotel is one block down on your right. We stayed here five nights. It was my third choice because we were here over New Year's Eve and I couldn't get reservations five nights in a row at the first two hotels. Of the four hotels we stayed at in Italy the two weeks we were there, this was the smallest room and the most expensive. We paid "tourist season" rates for our whole stay, but should have gotten a discount the last night and didn't. My husband paid the bill and I forgot to inform him the rate was not the same for the last night but he wasn't willing to go through the hassle for 15 euros. The complimentary breakfast was good and bountiful, but the only thing hot is the beverages. Anke, the day receptionist, made a dinner reservation for us at a nice, moderately priced restaurant right across the street behind the Washington snack bar. It's downstairs. I'd recommend it. Great location for touring the city on foot.
