Very nice, warm, welcoming place. We walked from the train station--a little far with luggage, but buses are VERY convenient. Several nice little restaurants on the same block and around the corner. Convenient to Piazza Maggiore and other sites. Great breakfasts.

Charming place, very nice staff. A bit distant from the center - still walking distance though. Request the parking voucher to the staff in order to avoid paying prohibitive parking charges.

We stayed at the Biocasamia in Bologna for four nights in January of 2008. Biocasamia is a small bed and breakfast establishment on the second floor of an apartment building without an elevator about a half a mile walk along a porticoed avenue to the Pizza Maggiore, the city center. The Biocasamia consists of a kitchen/office area and five bedrooms, each with its own bath. The space has been recently remodeled and is quite attractive and comfortable. The beds were firm and I slept well. The innkeeper does not live on the premises, but she came every morning to prepare breakfast for us and to make up our rooms. Breakfasts were adequate but simple and did not live up to the advertising on the Biocasamia website. The fruit basket, for example, contained the same withered apples for all four days of our stay. Nevertheless, it was great to be able to make tea, help ourselves to the packaged cookies and sit around and chat in the cozy kitchen area. The innkeeper and her son did not speak much English, but were very charming and helpful to us. Guide books and maps were available. Our little group, using two of the five bedrooms, had the place to ourselves in January. I don't know how it would feel to stay here with a bigger crowd. It's very intimate. Buses run along the road into the city center and we were able to quickly call a taxi when we needed one. Good walkers will probably enjoy the trek into town. One big negative for me: the showers quickly exhausted their supply of hot water, so there was no chance of the long, relaxing hot showers I like. And of course, it was only a tiny shower, no bathtubs available. The kitchen is also constantly surveyed by a video camera, probably a necessary security precaution for the owners, but a little disconcerting for me. And finally, the "free wireless internet access" does not work very well at all, logging out every 30 seconds or simply not working. Don't count on it.
