It's recently renovated, with small and clean rooms. The staff is very friendly. It's a cheap and decent place to stay in Buenos Aires.

The Best Western Monumental has solid three-star accommodations with ultrafriendly service (friendlier still when you establish yourself as a soccer or rugby fan). The only Best Western in all of Argentina, the Monumental is not fancy, and the clientele seems to be mostly Brazilian. The location is the only challenge--it's the old Jewish neighborhood and is now a bit transitional. Still, you're a 3 cab ride from anywhere in the center. Wireless internet is a huge plus. If you are willing to sacrifice a bit of location for a bit of comfort and economy, the Monumental is a solid choice.

This hotel has an open central stairway going to about 10 floors. There is no separate fire escape. A fire on a floor below you could pose a problem. Hotel promised to provide shuttle from airport but failed to do so. I wasted a half hour looking for remis driver with my name on a sign. Location is good, just a short couple of blocks walk to Subte underground tube. Otherwise, clean and comfortable and fair value for the price. They never credited my BW Gold frequent guest account.

The Best Western Monumental Hotel & Spa was a very good choice. I moved to this hotel form a previous one I was staying at in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires because I wanted to experience another neighborhood. The Best Western is located in the Microcentro. It is about 12 blocks form 9 de Julio Avenue which is the largest avenue in the world. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Rooms are of a good size and the vanity area is separate from the bathroom. The hotel personnel are very helpful and go out of their way to make your stay a comfortable one. Make sure you ask them to get you a car to go to the airport. It will be cheaper and more comfortable that a regular taxi.
