Description: Welcome to "Al Colonnato di San Pietro". The B&B is located 100 metres away from Saint Peter's Cathedral. It's on the second floor of a late 19th century building situated nearby that section of the old Aurelian walls which surrounds the hill of Gianicolo (270 - 275 AD). Despite our central location, the street were the B&B is located is pedestrian, so our rooms overlooking the Aurelian walls are quite silent.  Great Location (100 yards from St Peters Square) for Vatican and bus line (64 & 571 bus)Rosa Maria and Meldy were extremely helpful to us and very friendly. Great value, great location, very nice people. Only negative was the common areas of the building were being worked on but it did not effect us sleeping or accessing the building. We will stay here again good value for the location. Anne & Bob, Boston, Mass, USA

We truly enjoyed our stay at Al Colonnato di San Pietro. The location was great, basically just a short walk to St. Peter's. The breakfasts were very good, particularly in comparison to other B&B's we experienced. The owner, Rosa Maria, was extremely helpful, which was definitely something we didn't see elsewhere in the other Italian cities we visited. She went out of her way to help us resolve a situation with reservations we needed later in our trip and was very knowledgeable regarding local tourist sites. Her English is quite good. All in all, we highly recommend this B&B!

Very enjoyable stay. The owner was there to great us upon our arrival, in fact she found us in the street as the entrance to the building was blocked by scaffolding. Room was cleaned daily and a great breakfast was delivered promptly. Owner was very helpful and provided us with answers and suggestions during the stay. Room has a small fridge and safe. There is also a small TV but no satellite connections. Would stay there again for it's great location (close to the vatican and st. peter's basilica) and bus transportation, just around the corner.

I really enjoyed my stay and was very impressed with Al Colonnato di San Pietro. We arrived quite late in the evening as our flight was delayed, but the driver we had booked had waited, and Rosa Maria was at the apartment to welcome us. The highlights of the accommodation are the location - right next to St Peter's Basilica, and the breakfasts delivered to the room which comprised of everything you could want (croissants, coffee, fruit salad, toast, selection of conserves, bread rolls and fruit juice).

Fortunate to stay @al colonnato di San Pietro after discovering Venere. Rosa Maria contacted me immediately after I placed my reservations requesting my travel info and provided me with pertinent info(train, bus, directions, watch for pickpockets, etc). I regret contacting Rosa Maria since I was late due to the late afternoon commute traffic. She greeted & welcomed us to her B&B with an abundance of info. It must have been after 8pm by the time Rosa Marie left our room. We stayed in the green room, the largest of 3 with a private bath. The room was meticulosly clean, hardwood floors, air con, marble bathroom. Breakfast was served each morning in your room by Meldi. Coffee of your choice(our cappucino was as good as one's you buy at the cafe's), yogurt, fresh fruit, nice warm crossiant, bread, other snacks. We never ate lunch except having a cappucino, pastry and gelatti. Location was great across from St Peters. Never had to take the metro. Bus 64 around the corner took us back to Termini. Did take 110 bus tour for 13E which allows you to jump off and on the bus at 11 diff point of interest for the whole day(well worth it). Rosa Marie and Meldi made our stay in Rome very pleasant that we did not want to leave for Firenze! Highly recommended and looking forward for a return visit.

We had a great time staying there over the easter period. We were made to feel very welcome and the big breakfasts in the morning were excellent fuel for busy days we had exploring Rome. The location is literally about a 2 minute walk from St. Peters square and a 30 sec walk from the no. 64 bus stop which can take you all over the city centre.

Our experience here was perfect. Meldi and Rosa were very helpful, and the breakfast (brought to our room every morning) was incredible. Excellent value, we'll definitely be back. The rooms are nicer than they appear online, and the location is ideal.

Although we did not suffer from it too much, we would have appreciated the indication that the B&B is a non-smoker facility! But Rosa Maria was a gracious hostess and we did enjoy every minute of our stay. Very recommendable!

The stay at Rosa Marias B&B was fantastic. Rosa is very kind, reliable and helpful, she knows a lot and gives good advices. The B&B is very good located, you just cross the street and you are in the Vatican- city. Moreover it is quiete, has nice and modern furnished rooms. The bathrooms are also very modern and clean as the whole B&B. The breakfast is also tasty and served in the bedroom. We will come back to this great City and to Rosas B&B.

A little expensive, just as everything else in Rome. Wonderful, personal B&B. You feel like a VIP and get all help, guidebooks, maps and tips that you need! Recommended!

My wife and I traveled to Rome as part of our honeymoon trip that included Venice and parts of Croatia. We stayed here 4 nights during our trip that ended 21 October 2005.This B&B gets an excellent rating from us. Some areas of Rome certaintly are closer to the city's center. But as Al Colonnato di San Pietro's name suggests, it is extremely convenient for visitors to the Vatican but relatively far from the center of Rome. Rome being a very walkable city (except having to dodge the traffic and follow the maps), this didn't matter much. You could certainly do worse than being greeted to a view of the Basilica as you head out in the morning. The real treasures in this little B&B are its owner, Rosa Maria, and her jack-of-all trades Meldi. Their standards are so high, all the details fall into place. The rooms were the nicest by far of all the places we've stayed in Europe. Our rate was 110E... if these rooms were in a hotel a 15 minute walk away, they'd go for more than twice as much. All the furnishings were beautiful and well arranged. The bathrooms were spotless and seemed brand new. Rosa-Maria is very charming, and she gave us advice about directions, bus routes, and things to see. As people have noted, Meldi's English is indeed excellent. It's almost silly to say that, because she grew up speaking it. When she wheeled in the breakfast cart with croissants, bowls of diced fruit, juice, and cappucino (or whatever hot drink you prefer), and plenty else, we felt very spoiled. Long story short, we will certainly be back. Also, ask Rosa Maria about the Pizzeria she frequents near the thoroughfare Corso Vittorio Emanuel II. We had the best dinner (and least expensive) of all those we took in Rome. We split a pizza arrabiata and the homemade gnocchi, had wine, coffee, and dessert, and left happy, sated, and a little drunk. *** Note: If you are visiting for the first time, note that the B&B is right on the corner of Via delle Fornaci and Viale delle Mura Aur

My husband and I were more than pleased with our room and stay in Roma. We were a bit worried about the outside of the building when we first seen it, but don't let that bother you as everything else was excellent. The nearness to the Vatican was fantastic. Our hostess was unable to greet us and called us twice to be sure that everything was as expected. The room was absolutely spotless and our breakfast was amazing. Meldi, the assistant was extremely knowageable and well spoken. We would highly recommended staying here to anyone who is looking for a very wonderful place to stay at an excellent rate.

The hostess was very nice, the only thing is she forgot to mention that the Vatican Museum always had a line going around the square block and that you are better off starting there then go to the Basilica. The breakfast was simple but very good.

This is an excellent choice if you're searching for a B&B. When we first arrived the owner provided us with free maps, directions to local site's, restaurants, etc. The hostess was also extremely warm, friendly, and always willing to help. The room was spotless! It was cleaned every morning when we went sightseeing. The breakfast was the best I've had in Italy. Fresh fruit cups, yogurt, cappuccino, juices, croissants, etc. Location: You're about 150 meters from St. Peters Basillica. This is a great choice.
