Ai Bottai is the top floor of Hotel Letizia; the modest name acknowledges its modest furnishings and the additional stairs; in every other respect, you can read reviews of Hotel Letizia and apply them to Ai Bottai. Notably-good features: Breakfast / Easy to locate / Close to supermarket (P. Maria di Miracoli) / Close to Palazzo Mirto (opposite side of same piazza) - a must-see if you would summon an image of the city in its aristocratic hey-day / Personable staff. Comments: 1 Travellers accustomed to manicured environments will need to make their peace with the intense texture of the old city; indeed, may I encourage you to feel privileged to attend to this rare holdout of the european urban culture memorialized in literature and cinema. 2 By the same token, realize that residents of the old city might understandably be unsettled by the appearance of silent strangers in their neighborhoods; aside from considerations of security, it will behoove you to conduct yourself with a certain amount of tact and discretion: smile, greet people ("Buongiorno", etc.), and honour privacy where it is called-for. 3 Certain parts of the old city call for a certain mindfulness and common sense when walking at night; comport yourself like you live there. 4 An internet point is available at the hotel desk, but bear in mind that hotel staff need to make ad hoc use of this same terminal; if you need extended use of the terminal, be sure to ask (and you may be asked to pay a fee.) 5 There is a full-service laundry nearby (on Via Vittorio Emanuele), but note (a) the friendly laundress speaks only Italian, i.e., you should be prepared to use at least phrasebook Italian for this and similar transactions; (b) laundry service is relatively expensive and may not be ready until the next day. 6 The desk staff speaks English, but may I encourage you to try to speak Italian - Palermo is that kind of city.

More of a hotel than a Bed and Breakfast. Lovely stylishly decorated room. Would stay here again.
