Set against the verdant backdrop of Connemara's Twelve Bens and with views out over the Atlantic, the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel was built as a private house in the early 19th century by the founding father of the town of Clifden. The 45 traditional guestrooms feature antique style dark wood furniture and richly patterned, country- house style fabrics. All rooms have satellite television, direct-dial phones, tea and coffee making facilities and bathrooms with bathrobes and hair dryers.
