The hotel is a lovely building in a great location and the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. It is a trivial point but if you make yourselves a drink and take it to your room please be expected to take the cups back down to the kitchen and wash them yourselves as housekeeping won't do it for you. Also, we stayed for 4 nights and the towels weren't changed. After 2 nights we left bath towels in the shower expecting them to be changed but when we got back to the room they had been hung up on a hook, still damp.

This was our first time at 3749 Ponte Chiodo. The walking directions from the waterbus stop were excellent - otherwise we may never have found it. The room was very clean and charming. We had the room with the bathroom across the hall and it wasn't a problem since we had the only key. The location was excellent, the service was very friendly and helpful, and we felt at home. We actually threw Mattia a curve ball by having to check out before he arrived - he wasn't too happy with us, understandably so - and it was my fault, but he rolled with the flow and it worked out. I would stay there again any day - I loved it. My husband and 2 suitcases fell down the stairs in the early morning that we left and we apologize to the unfortunate visitor in room #1! That's a bit of a nasty curve on the stairs. p.s. I picked this hotel based on reviews on this website and I was not disappointed.

Town House Suite 3749 is conveniently close to the Grand Canal Line 1 stop (5th stop) and is easy to find. Also, quite close to the island water buses starting point near Chiesa di Jesuiti. The hotel owner, Matteo, and his able staff, Vajira manage the property well and are full of good tips for sightseeing. I particularly enjoyed the walking route suggested by Matteo. A lot of independence as you are given your own set of keys to go in and come out as you like. And, you can make your own tea and coffee at any time other than breakfast in the delightful little kitchen and have a cookie or fruit kept on the sideboard. Internet access is free for guests, so that was a bonus. The room I stayed in was tiny but convenient, comfortable and delightfully furnished with all the necessary accessories (aircondition, TV, fridge, ensuite bathroom etc). Lovely garden where breakfast was served and the only time that you get to see the other guests, who were mainly from Europe. Enjoyed my stay at the townhouse suite and would definitely stay there, when I revisit Venice.

The Ponte Chiodo has a great garden to sit in and have breakfast, internet available, and the location was great. We could get to the vaporetto and catch a traghetto to the market easily. It was nice to have a live-in assistant on staff there. The owner made some great recommendations for meals and tours.

My cousins & I stayed a week here. It was my 8th visit to Venice & without a doubt 3749 P C has been the best place to stay. It is very clean, comfortable, central - & to enjoy breakfast each morning in the garden was absolute bliss. The staff team were exceptional. Mattia, the owner, was warm, friendly & welcoming - nothing was too much trouble: from recommending/reserving restaurants to sharing & explaining his love of Venice. He speaks fluent English & French. Vajira saw to the needs of the guests with quiet efficiency. We were made to feel very much at home. I have no reservation in recommendin a stay here. We had rooms overlooking the garden (single & a twin)- they were compact but very quiet. The en-suite facilities were very good. The rooms had everything conveniently to hand (including air conditioning & a safe). We appreciated the ready supply of coffee etc in the downstairs kitchen & the facility to prepare snacks etc. One observation if you are arriving/leaving at Marco Polo airport: ask Mattia for information about the direct Laguna waterbus (12 euros per person + case) from the airport to Fondamente Nuove (a 6 min. walk from 3749PC IIt is much more straightforward than going via Piazzale Roma (bus & boat)

Super little setup ,small number of rooms, quiet, safe, relaxing, handy to vaporetto stop. Rooms look out onto garden or canal at back. Common kitchen area and free internet. Rooms have all the mod cons:mini frig, air con,tv,(no tel).Mattia is the perfect host and loves to tell you of the best places to see the treasures of his beloved Venice. Also suggestions for good, reasonably priced (for Venice) restaurants .Breakfast, inside or out in the garden, is more than sufficient, complete with on the spot cappuccinos. As a single older traveler I felt very comfortable there.

In the 8 weeks we travelled throughout Europe, this was the best accommodation and service that we encountered. Matteo is a wonderful host and I would unconditionally recommend this guesthouse.

My wife and I ended up in the small room with 2 single beds (which was our own fault by not reading the reservation forms well enough before submitting) but we were dissapointed with the size of the room even from the perspective of single travellers. We've both travelled before as singles with friends which is what our room was intended for, but we both said that even as single travellers, the room was VERY cramped and there was virtually no room to put any large luggage (luckly we had only backpacks). We didn't ever see any of the other rooms, so I cannot judge those. Other people we met at breakfast seemed happy, so I'm sure they were fine! Although, on a brighter note, it was very well kept and the facility was lovely. The garden area was beautiful and very inviting as a nice area to rest after a long day of battling the crowds. The breakfast was the best we had on our entire 2 week trip throughout Italy. Funny tid-bit: The owner seemed annoyed by all of the tourists in the city, which a few of us at breakfast found quite humorous since he runs a B&B ... But we did take his advice to stay out of the tourist areas for eating and ended up trying some of his suggested locations and ended up in some fantastic ristorante's, so I guess that his dislike for tourists actually came in handy for us! Over all it was a fun experiance and I would recommend it for most everyone!

Together with my son we had a lovely stay at Ponte Chiodo. Everything was perfect - a very nice small house with very friendly and helpful staff - nice breakfast service - extremely clean rooms and surroundings - very nice and helpful owner. I can highly recommend this lovely Town House in Canareggio !

Just stayed at this lovely welcoming place for 5nights (Mar 13 - 18th). There is nothing bad you can so about the place, location and above all staff. Treated like a member of the family. The info offered on places to eat was excellent and all added to our great stay in Venice. Only 5 mins walk to Rialto and 10 to San Marco the location is spot on as you can also walk away from the crowds and enjoy a quieter venice. Many thanks.

An excellent guest house off the tourist routes but within easy reach of everything. Some excellent restaurants close by. Mattia is delightful and informative host. Our room was thoughtfully furnished with a good mix of antique and modern. Lovely courtyard garden.

The owner/manager was so helpful in offering suggestions for dinner, for connections on the vaporettos, organized transportation to our cruise ship when the vaporettos were on strike. He had a computer with internet access available for us all to use at not cost. His directions for our arrival were very explicit, you couldn't go wrong. Everything at the B&B was top of the line: fridge in room, all his kitchen furnishings, etc. We loved the area. Doe Pollen & Jenny Christoph.

We had a very pleasant stay. The owner and employees were very friendly, everything was clean and neat and the breakfasts were quite good. The fresh fruit was especially welcome. We were able to help ourselves to tea and coffee at anytime and the computer was also available for our use. Matteo spoke English very well and provided us with a list of good restaurants nearby. We were within walking distance of most sights, but the best thing about the location was that it was near a vaporetto stop. So when we didn't feel like walking we could easily jump on a boat. The only drawback was that our room was quite small.

My husband, borther in law and I spent 5 nights at 3749 Ponte Chiodo in October 07. We are regular visitors to Venice, but my brother in law had not been before. We all had a wonderful trip. Great location in the city. Mattia's restaurant suggestions and recommendations for places to visit were excellent and really added to the stay. We have already recommended the guest house to others and would visit again.
